Anyone else not care for POW videos?

I am not a good park skier by any means, and consider myself a very good pow skier. however i would still rather watch a crazy park shoot or some urban because it is the farthest thing away from what i can actually do. it really depends what it is and how its shot though. you cant beat the likes of Douglas' and Sages helmet cam parts, they are better than any park shots

The only big mountain I like in videos is POV.  Otherwise, I would rather not watch it.  I love bc jibbing and stufflike that, and when there are trees, but watching someone ski a big line is so boring.

Not everyone has the ability to just get up and move at any time. Sure a lot of people COULD move, but they would be giving up school, a career, a girlfriend, a bestfriend, whatever. Just because We live in the land of the free doesn't mean That we can get up and go wherever we want whenever. I know I couldn't get up and move to the west right now, not only could I not afford it, but I'd have to drop out of school and give up my job on park crew this winter, so it wouldn't be a smart idea.

Nobody said anything about moving. We were talking about experiencing. Everyone can take a couple of days or a week out and go ski out West. And if you have other priorities, thats fine, but then there's no reason to be a bitch about things.

I don't really care for it when they just film people doing turns and stuff.  But I like big mt, with drops, natural jumps and stuff like that. 

i dont really care for it either. i could watch seth morrison all day but i hate like just people skiing down mountains. some clips thrown in here and there arnt bad though. i would rather ski it than watch it.

I agree with you.
Everyone can do it. People who did great thing were not restrained by such things as not having enough money.
But some of us have other priorities. School for example. I won't go out West this winter because I want to finish school asap and don't want to skip any trimesters, but I fully assume this decision and am not complaining about my situation.

That said, when I see a video of Ian Provo getting tits deep pow, I miss skiing in the West.

I love pow except for Alaska i find that kinda boring most of the time especially the way MSP does it.

park isnt skiing, its jumping into the air and moving your body around. pow you need to know how to control your skis and actually ski well

I partially agree. Park skiing IMO is def skiing, For me, learning to ski park was just a way for me to continue to challenge myself and learn new things, rahter than skiing the same runs all the time at my mountain. And now that I have gotten better at park skiing I can bring that attitude to the whole mountain and it opens up a a whole new bag of things I can do, while not in the park. It has opened my eyes to creative ways of skiing.

But at the same time, I do know some people who shred in the park, then if you take them in some tight trees they would die. I skied for more than 10 years before I tried the park thing and in my opinion, I'm glad I did. I can actually make turns and ski the whole mountain, not just hit rails and do flippy spinny things. I'm getting my little brother on skis this year (he's 13) and he told me that he wants to hit a rail his first day. Not only will he probably not be able to, but if he can thats fucking stupid. In my opinion he should stay out of the park for at least a full season so he can learn how to ski and not just slide rails and hit jumps. Its sad how susceptible he is to marketing and NS fads. For example, He looks at skis for graphics alone, and discounts perfectly good ones because they are ugly. /facepalm. I need to set him straight. I don't want him to become another tall t wearing Twall loving anthem dick sucking skier. Not that there is anythign wrong with those things, but you should like them for the right reasons. But I digress. Kids shouldnt learn to ski in the park, or else they'll just end up trying to afterbang the whole mountain. Talk about shin bang.

i love park skiing, but if this is the view we are going to take on it, that skiing is simply putting skis on your feet and then doing whatever the fuck you want, then aerials is skiing too, even though we know half of those assholes couldn't make it down the bunny hill without falling on their ass because they are just failed gymnasts who needed something else to do.

and i would never call aerials skiing because it just isn't. the skis are just a means of getting the athlete into the air.
