Not skin as in acne, skin as in BD Ascension skins. I just cut my first pair down to size, so I'm wondering what is the best way to pack them up? Glue to glue? Glue to fur? I don't want to fuck them up already.
Fold each skin in half separately, tip to tail, glue to glue. If your skins came with plastic webbing, you might as well just throw that out as the skin will hold its glue better while in contact with itself. Keep your skis waxed well and you'll be able to peel off the skins better in colder temperatures.
Always let them dry opened up, I usually drape then glue side out over the top of a door. I store mine using a skin saver, which is basically a piece of mesh put between then glue sides.
Skin savers are more trouble than they're worth. Store them glue to glue, and make sure you always dry them out before storing. Don't ever store them in a warm place, keep them in the basement or somewhere cool. Especially if you use the skin savers cause when you go to peel them off you will have little bits of skin saver all over your glue. Try your very hardest to keep the glue clean and they will last you for a few seasons before the glue wears out. When I'm out skinning I fold them tip to tail glue to glue and then roll them up.. it helps to minimize creases.
Agreed, glue to glue. And do not worry too much about the glue, because it is possible, although time consuming to re-glue-ify them. Plus, you got BD skins, they have the best glue in the industry.
Agreed. Keep the Glue clean. that's the beast way to ensure they stay sticky. Its easy to get lazy when your tired ... being careless with your skins can result on lots of crazy crap getting stuck in the glue.
Another vote for using the skin saver every time!
I've done this out of habit from day one and my glue lasts longer than all of my friends who go glue to glue. Plus it's way easier to get them apart when you need them.
As suggested already, definitely dry them out exposed. Just don't let dog hair, pine needles and other shit get on them and they will last for many years.
