Rock's not Dead its just kinda not very good right now. Look at the 90's that was an awesome decade for Rock (Grunge, Punk, Alternative, and even some of the British stuff).

^ name one band from the 90's that was rock?! pearl jam. and don't even try to say that its grunge, yes it was part of the grunge movement but its also definately rock. rock isn't dead you just aren't looking in the right places. afterall what do you consider to be rock because if you're talking about acdc and zeppelin, that aspect of rock died when hairbands took over and destroyed the credibilty of arena rock - although a lot of that 80's shit seems to be making a comeback.

Anti-Flag
-Whats so fucking wrong, and whats so anti-establishment about the idea of peace? Why is wanting to know the truth so anti establishment?
These aren't anti-establishment ideas, these are Pro fucking peace ideas-

maybe their lyrics have some meaning, which is a start, but they're missing amazing guitar riffs, ones that don't get old, ones that are really skilled.

I think amazing memorable guitar riffs are a bad rule of thumb. New punk and hardcore band's great guitarists don't get much credit. Take for example Thrice's lead guitarist Teppei Teranishi, and Avenged Sevenfold's lead Synyster Gates. These guys not only write amazing rifts, but they use them sparingly as they also put a lot of unique and sometimes long runs throughout their songs. I think the difference is that the rock you speak of put a lot of emphasis on a song having some stunning solo. I think the guitar play can be just as equal in hardcore and punk but it's just more subtle. The talent and music is there, but it's not the focus of the song. I always find myself w/ solos from these bands stuck in my head.

the problem i see whith alot of punk bands is that they have really great guitar and stuff but the whole band is ruined by a gay ass lead singer with spiky pink hair that has a high voice and sings like his balls are being crushed by an 800 pound gorilla.

That does not apply to any of the bands I've mentioned. That image is perpetuated by MTV's proliferation of Simple Plan and Good Charlotte videos. There are good punk bands out there that have singers w/ similar voices. I don't think it's the voice that ruins the band but rather generic lyrics.

The only thing Eminem inspires me to do is shoot him in the face.

Eminem licks balls. I hate that fucker. There is so much better hip hop that just doesn't get into the mainstream. The only people that like eminem are prepy white kids. Oh yeah and I was just joking about the darkness. There cool but nothing special. And I've got to agree that soundgarden is a great band.
