jobs related to skiing

I have definitely decided that i wanna get a job that has something to do with skiing. Besides the obvious jobs like a patroller, a instructor or a lifty, what else could I do. Just name a few and describe em if you can, right now im lookin towards, Photo Journalism or even video editing. But anything that has to do with skiing will pretty much suitable for me, i just wanna be out on the mountain.

you could move over here to c'wood and be the official blue mountain camra bitch... we are in desperate need of a camra dude/photographer guy at blue... 'cause right now we all wanna ski, and none of us wanna get stuck with the camra. we could pay you with water and... well, just water (acutually - just melted snow, but same thing)

Photographers make only a few hundred for every full page picture they get published in Freeze, Powder, Freeskier...etc. Better off being a bar tender....make good money, ski all day, and its an easy way to meet girls. The perfect skibum job.

You could be into hotel or resturant management. You could work at a resort or resturant on the slopes or in town. They pay decent and you get usally 2 days a week off (the two days are usally different for everyone like tuesday&wednesday). It might work unless you want to ski every day.

_ski_bum said it. A friend of mine is going into hotel/restaraunt management when he gets out of college and he had the easiest major ever. It was called hospitality management and he would have mutltiple choice tests that were like this, no joke:

If you are a manager of a restaraunt and one of your waiters spills a drink on someone you:
A - Tell the waiter to be more careful
B - Tell the customer he/she should have got out of the way
C - Fire the waiter
D - Tell the waiter to be more careful, apologize to the customer and give them their meal for free.

Yeah and if you need a degree in that go to the university of denver. They supposdly have a great program for those degrees and you could ski a lot being less than an hour to the mnts!

well the best way is to either be a park tech or like a patroller at a small resort. really get to know the night staff. and then just do a couple ride-alongs. Eventually they'll let you mess around on the bunny hill or something. and one day you'll get to actually do the grooming.

driving a groomer is actually really easy, it doesn't take to make skill to do it, the only problem is you need experience to get hired. Work for a cat skiing operation and you'll get to know all the jobs of the trade, guiding, driving the cat, cooking, mechanic, and its really fun cause you get to go pow skiing for free, i know all the guys that work at Monasheepowder (in B.C) and they have such a good time,except for the time we put the cat in the lake

i think doing the restraunt or bar tending thing would be beter, im thinking about going to culenary school. the hours are perfect for skiing and it pays pretty good and it wouldnt be to hard to find a job in a resort town wiht tons of restraunts

i reeeeealy want to be a park tech! I wonder if a 15 year could could get a job as one!..maybe not driving a groomer..but shaping the jumps, setting up rails and everything..i know what im doing and id get the job done right...Anyone have any ideas how i could find a job like this or where to start?

hahaha, ok. To get to a lot of the terrain you must drive across a couple lakes (its saves a lot of work cause you don't have to build roads) anyways your supposed to drive along the side of the lake, but this time the driver Jevin a red neck snowboarder from cherryville decides to take a short cut and go straight across the lake.There wasen't any body in the cat cause he was on his way to a pick up. Luckly the lake wasen't to deep and only the tracks went under, but it took about a week and a shit load of work to finally get it out.

um... most resorts in ontario don't have park tech's... they usually just have groomers and have people who already work there throw down some rails (the main reason why 90% of the parks in ontario SUCK ASS). and those places with park tech's do their hiring from connections. if you don't have connections to get the job you won't get the job.

Honestly who wants to drive a groomer....Arghh, damn powder killers. Just kidding b/c they keep the posers off the good runs and in Wisconsin pack the snow so our season last 2x longer!

you could work in a shop, then you could get all your skiing shit for discount. but bartending would work, just dont get a job in like a chain restaurant. my dad used to tend at red lobster and he would get a 30 cent tip from like evryone. the nicer the restaurant, the better.
