you dont need a reciever. you just need to put a special back on your phone that has a magnet it in it and leads for the battery, charges it through induction. i have the touchstone for the palm pre which is basically the same thing. its pretty cool

This is necessary for this type of technology to expand.  If companies such as Apple, Nokia, HTC see that it sells really well, then hopefully they wil try and incorporate it into their own products.

I do not think being lazy has anything to do with it.  I am pretty sure they conserve electricity and you do not have to deal with tangled cords everywhere.
