Replying to How tight are the shoes supposed to fit in the binding?

I have to adjust two pair of bindings for my shoes to fit. I'm sure I'll take them to a ski-shop to check it's all right, but I really want to know how tight shoes are going to fit in the bindings, cause I want to learn doing it myself. I've never really quiet understood how you know how tight they're going to be. Is there a simple guide or something to help me learn this? Or can anybody explain?
I use Marker Jesters btw...
