World hunger ignorance

i think people need to stop freaking out about world hunger because when ever we feed starving people they instantly convert the food into new starving babies within 9 months of the food drop and then they are all starving again. I think the woman in these countries need to take care of their fucking children instead of dropping their babies on the street so they can pick up another dudes dick and start all over again.

Same thing in america, If you have 1000 babies then dont expect the government to pay for them. If you want a car you have to pay for it. If you want babies you have to pay for them too.

sorry to rant but im sick of the fucking tv ads

The billions of dollars they've received in foreign aid has done almost nothing to increase the quality of life.  We gotta teach them how to fish (metaphorically).  Not to mention half the time the aid doesn't even make it to the people because it gets confiscated by different military juntas.

It's really a shame that a lot of these people are victims of the fucked up rebel groups/dictators/whatever you want to call them that control all of the power in said countries.  I certainly don't think that combatting world hunger is a negative thing, but I think that it's better in theory than it is in practice.

Nuke 'em? just playin, but I really don't know exactly what the answer is gonna be.  All I know is Days of Thunder is on TV right now and I'd rather watch Cole Trickle overcome his fears than solve world hunger.

No i think africa has done a terrible job using the money we've given them but it's definitely gone somewhere, it'd be interesting to see what would happen if we cut funding already, like if the quality of life would seriously decline or just remain in this shitty interim they've been in for years. it's difficult to teach a whole continent how to improve the quality of life...but based on history the world really does kinda owe them...

i know people won't like this, but some people simple don't need to survive. The earth can't sustain it.

what i love is the people who talk/complain about the world's growing population, but then protest wars, genocide, and believe we need to feed all the poor hungry people.

face it, there's no simple solution. we either save them and deal with the growing population, or we kill/let them die

i think a lot of people forget this second part when considering issues in africa. providing aid for food and health is not a bad thing, it just needs to be done in the right way. yes, overpopulation is one of the fundamental problems, but let me clear something up. families don't churn out babies because they get more money from the government. they have them because they are either counting on their kids to work to supplement the family income or they don't have proper knowledge/access to contraceptives and family planning resources. providing a better quality of life and most importantly, better education, has the potential to solve both of these issues. there are plenty of programs that don't work, but there are also plenty that do. world hunger isn't ignorance, but writing it off and saying fuck you, help yourself...that's a different story.

This is where I have a problem.  Yes, world hunger is sad, yes, when the Europeans left Africa they fucked it up beyond belief.  BUT, at the same time, there are a ton of problems here at home (US is my home) and I feel that I should worry about stuff that makes MY life work easier, and better before someone else's.  This may come across as selfish but if I give everything to hunger funds for Africa and end up living in a box myself how has this helped the world?  It really hasn't, it has just reversed roles is all.

i totally understand that sentiment. hell, i work for a community action agency helping low income people every day. i have a pretty good sense of the problems we have here at home, and totally agree that they need attention. i'm not saying that people need to give up everything they have, because that would be silly. what i am trying to say is that it is insensitive to discredit the people who do choose to work towards causes in africa, because even though the problems aren't domestic, i (and many other people) feel that they are still worth fixing.

although i have read a fair amount on that website, and needless to say i was loling through the resource based economy at points.

and personally im glad i live in suburbia / small town USA. so thankful i was fortunate enough to grow up in a small town.

it's an example of how to design the houses of the future. it's made ecologically, can resist heavy hurricane-like weather and is actually portable if i remember correctly.
