Car crash

So long story short-

I'm at a red light,

the girl in front of me stalls out

I bump her b/c i double take the light, my jeep is lifted so i missed her bumber and got the back door of her subaru

mutually decide to not go through insurance (I'm 20, my insurance would fucking skyrocket). So, i meet with her several different times and finally drop off the check in anticipation for an estimate the next day.

No estimate, a week later, and I am out 1000 bucks of cash i woke up increadibly early to earn.

FUCK! , and my parents were right about having the estimate in your hands first.

So, i know where they live, next step?

why would you drop off a $1000 check before finding out how much to pay? Seems like common sense to me, i dont really think there is all that much you can do but go to her house and hope she will be nice.

unless she is a really honest person and there's been a miscommunication, you are probably shit out of luck. she probably paid $600 to fix it and pocketed $400.

i had a similar situation when i was 20. except i got hit in the parking lot of a gas station. we didnt call the cops and i didnt get shit from the guy. lesson learned.

hahha naw, like pretty rugged man. we in northern vt. but, the reason I dropped off the check is that its not like i wrote the check on the scene. It had been at least a week afterwords and I had met up with her several times. I was just waiting for a copy of the est. so i could write it off as a casualty at the end of the year. Now i am very interested to see really how much it costed her. i can see from your perspective i could have thought it out more, but i wasn't expectling to get played either.

general rule about car accidents...

don't give them anything but your info until everything is definite.

and also take pictures, and photocopy EVERYTHING. For some reason when it comes to car accidents, people love to screw each other over by exaggerating costs, damage etc. If you have definite proof, you'll usually be ok.

as for this particular case...i don't think there's much you can do.
