If u don't have to bend them ur skis will rack together right - when u bend them rarely do the brakes clip in together well. Why buy a new binding then have to bend it and put it at risk of something happening to it. U got better things to do. If u r stuck and u can't find a binding to fit sure yeah bend it. Techs at shops bend brakes regularily . sure u can keep bending them until they are perfect but...
Most importantly the heel piece /brake is back away from the waist of the ski so it gets slightly fatter under the heel and u need either more bend or a couple mm of space. Happy as sht I bought big.
