1. Classify skiing in the sense of style--BC, Park, Racing, etc. and talk about it in a technical sense.. outerwear differences, equipment differences, preferred weather/snow conditions, etc
2. Classify skiing in the sense of the people who do it. Two main concepts: those who ski out of want, and those who ski out of need. The whole, hobby v. lifestyle deal. And then within that talk about (on the hobby side) your gapers, weekend warriors, and rich people who do it (with the most pristine setup) JUST because they can. And of course, on the other side, your park skiers, bc guys, (and those inbetween) and racers..I guess. (I'm not too sure where I want to place racers. It can really go either way.) In this I would really talk about their general attitudes and.."look".
The second option would have to be more of a satirical paper.
