Do you guys reckon this photo would be better without the umbrellas reflected?  I'm not sure weather to reshoot it with the brollies out of view....

that photo is retarded. Selective coloring is completely wack and RUINED what could have been a good photo.


the sharpness is good, and the reflections add life to the eye. Whether or not you want both full umbrellas in there is up to you, but completely removing them will take away from the shot IMO

why is it when people who don't like any sort of photo editing absolutely freak out when they see people who do...

i really enjoy the selective coloring... not all of us have purist standards...
I'd say go with one umbrella or experiment with other techniques

Im going with dave on this one, I hate the coloring.. kinda looks like a teenage girl myspace shot, except with a little more skill and effort.

i quite enjoy excessive photo editing when its done properly

check out some of dave hill's work, he is phenomenal

selective coloring is a joke

i agree. sorry.
you got skills in photoshop but your idea was a glorified myspace.

i would choose one color for the eye and desaturate the rest of the face.

or, try to keep just a touch of saturation in the face, and up the contrast a little bit, and exp too
and bring dow nthe brightness of the colours in the eye imo, and go without the umbrellas. they block off the pupil and look strange

editing is fine, but sometimes you edit so much that it shouldn't be called photography. this picture is sick, not because of the picture itself (its an eye, which is a bit over-done) but because of the editing.

i like the umbrellas.
