How top make a Dry Slope ski setup

i was wondering what turf/carpet you use for making a dry slope setup. i have used just straight up carpet and water and it doesnt seem to give you enough speed. what are some alternatives?

try and join the build a jib 101 cult. and for carpet, use a turf based material, or snow fence.

dry?? id say it must be wet. astro turf works well enough. just the basic stuff from homo depot or lowes or whatever

Thats a lie. Turf does require water and soap, but there are dry alternatives. Lattice fencing for example, fast as ice, and requires drops to no water. Construction fence, but not as fast as lattice. One downside... zero edge control. Its good for short drop-ins.

There is a special kind of directional turf that works wonders, just a little soapy water sprayed on and it slides perfect. not sure where you can buy any though or how much. Anyone know

For inspiration check out the Turf setup that I built this summer.  It is basically a backyard style setup on steroids.  I can help you acquire a few different type of material from a company called Powderpak.  Their product is great and will make you're creation a success.  Send me a message if you have any specific questions.  Perhaps I will build a new one at my house so i can document all the steps for you guys.

thanks, my problems are solved though i'm going to a rail jam with real snow this saturday so i'll get my fix of skiing for the week. but after that i'll probably get some fence and a litle bit of turf

yeah its good to mix the two. i have fence drop-in for speed and a some turf on my tranny and a turf lip so i can get a little edge action.

yeah i was going to put the fence at the top of the ramp and the trurf at the bottom because a had an all pvc pipe drop in ramp and without any edge action its just horrible

Fake grass that you get from the greengrocers works well with some construction fence layed over the top. Or, mount some pvc tubes sideways - that's really fast

im from the bay area in california i live about 4 hours from tahoe so i dont get to go as often as i would like i am planing on getting 150 square feet of turf and about 200 or more ft role of construction fence I am hoping to be able to lay it over my cousins already made dirt jumping jumps like bmx just with a hardtail bike i have already tested the construction fence over sand dunes in Monterey which worked great because i could kinda carve with a little san sticking through the spaces of the fencing i have also tried it on a grass hill i have not figured out the slope of the hill i need and also if if i could even build and use a dropin ramp becouse it might have to be super big if not i would be up to try it any thoughts?

Yeah I already have that stuff but you get zero edge control. The stuffs good for drop ins but not much else. What can I get that gives you a little more edge action.

Does Plastic latice need water? I'm making a setup with some M-snow. I was just gunna use turf, but I'm not gunna get it if you have to use a lot of water. M-snow is pretty expensive, so does plastic latice work well dry?

No lattice does not need water. But it does work a little bit better with a tiny amount water

Anyone tried to ski down carpet stairs in their house? ... ME!!!... It is super fast! If you build a staircase-like frame for a drop in, in th backyard, you might be able to get away with just carpet
