Dude, I have been sitting around all day thinking about how I don't want to write out a rough daft of that very topic for my blue book test tomorrow. its not necessarily a stupid question. If you read the prompt, it asks "to what extent where the colonies unified" so you could then go to say the extent of the unity was rather nonexistant/small/etc, you get the idea. The prompt doesn't limit one to find evidence that the colonies were unified.
