So i'm trying to delete the icons off of my desktop. they are shortcuts. but when i try to delete them it tells me that i would be deleting the entire program. Well ok I of course would not want to do that. does anybody have a solution for this?
This is what it says. ik my dad has a password to delete stuff but why would it ask to delete the shortcut. thats what got me worried. but what comes up is posted below.
No. f5 is the refresh button. Basically if you have deleted the program, Vista will acknowledge this and see the icon for the deleted program as waste and will delete is for you.
go to program files, then copy the exe file, and paste it on your desktop. make sure the exe is still in the program file menu, then delete the one you pasted. does it say the same thing?
When i do this i am able to delete the file. So does that meant that when i get that warning message its really just deleting the shortcut and thats it?
It looks like somehow that isn't a shortcut, like the program file icon was actually moved to the desktop. Just cut that icon and move it to the folder it designates.
