a.) Pure capitalism doesn't work. No country is purely capitalistic. And (sorry, I'm not a lefty but just had to say something) what capitalism means in America is rich people will get richer because the US government will protect them at any cost and poor becomes poorer because nobody gives a shit about them. Fucking goverment welfare cheese.

b.) HAHAHAHAHAHA. LAND OF THE FREE? Oh please, read my comment up there.

c.) Only reason Americans get the most credit of technological advancement is they steal smart people from all over the world with money and bullshit. But I won't say anything because that'll get too complicating.

d.) How come US spends that much money in hungry kids in otherside of the world but still allow prostitution, unfair job opportunities based on ethnicity, and don't help the fucking poor people dying in the projects that gets evicted out of their homes?

e.) UN = United Nations Do you know what nations are? what united means? Only reason US has the power in the UN is because of WW2, and US already has a fucking record of messing shit up during the League of Nations, and now they are fucking UN up.

f.) What the fuck are you talking about? How do you drive the world economy? United States did not "create" the global recession I agree. It was all the US dependent 3rd world countries which could not help themselves after US went broke. But how the fuck does one country drive a entire global economy? Are you saying that they were the first one to stimulate trade? Because before United States there were: English, Dutch, French, Chinese, Indians?

g.) Screw up poor countries. Ever heard of Amercian Imperialism?

a) tru dat, im not the most expert person on the subject so i wont say much more
b) even with a lack of bipartisanship, the govt will reach some agreement, and i highly doubt the usa would veer away from the fundamentals it was founded on
c) maybe not jack shit, but american medical advancements are still greater in number than canadian or european countries
d) we still give a trillion times more than your country. giving and manipulating is still better than not giving at all
e) its a sham these days, but the world is still a better place with it
f) are you gonna argue semantics? ok fine, we didnt create it, we created WHAT IT IS TODAY
g) that doesnt take away from the face that we do more for the world than your country does
h) definitely gonna be a war in iran and/or pakistan, and i say AMERICA FUCK YEAH

not going to get in on this hate thread, but the hate may as well be accurate.

The U.S.A. is a republic, not a democracy. This means that elected officials are chosen who then have the power to elect officials to government. These elected officials are called the (electoral college? this is what I'm pretty sure it's called, not positive.) So we don't vote for our presidents and other government officials. Except I believe that at a state level people vote democratically (not positive about this either). Anyways, just decided to knit pick about that one fact, it may have already been talked about and if so I apologize.

a) capitalism is what gives people the opportunity to invent. the poor have every opportunity to become successful if they play their cards right. yes, they are at an extreme disadvantage, but they can do it
b) is america not democratic?
c) again, they come to america because of the opportunity, where they can market and sell their product
d) welfare = help. welfare costs more annually than all military expenses
e) UN is still based in NYC. it was an american idea (if im not mistaken), and mistakes from the league of nations were learned
f) if america fell off the map, china would go bonkers. thats enough of a dent in the global economy right there
g) american imperialism was around a hundred years ago. im talking about present day, with the luxuries in your life like internet

People, nation, doesn't just create things out of air. One day nothing and the other day "poof" it just doesn't work like that.

Because everything is advancement, there is no creation. "WHAT IT IS TODAY" does not count because before United States simply  added its innovative ideas like McDonald and Starbucks, there were millenium worth of history that world economy was based upon, world philosophy was based upon, medical technology it was based upon. Because without mercantalism, Adam Smith could not have learned capitalism. Without Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, there could have been no republic and without Athenenian's democratic ideas, there would have been no land of the free.

I honestly hate when people use this as a reason of why America is the best

its only because you have a gigantic population. theres more doctors because theres more people, so its the equivalent of having like half of europes doctors. therefore, you have more specialists in more fields (i.e. the study of toe nails) leading to more research in each of those particular fields.

im not saying that America hasnt advanced the world, but dont think its because your "better"

uhhh what? the us is a representative democracy... still a democracy, isnt it? again, im not the most expert on nitpicky govt details. the electoral college just gives each state a number to represent their population.... its to prevent individual sections of the country influence the vote of an official too much...

US is a democracy.

What it calls a republic others call a representative democracy, meaning that the people do not have a direct say in government, but rather elect officials from a geographically defined area to represent them. And im not even American and I know that the people directly elect the president and members of the legislature.

I would like to enlighten you on a little theory of mine. 

In the 1600's to 1800's a lot of people left Europe for America.  Now imagine yourself at that time, people lived shorter lives,  people purposely reproduced a lot because children died frequently.  It was a scary place.  Now some guy comes up to you, wants to to take a big voyage across 3,000 miles of Ocean to go to some country that hardly has the marks of civilization yet.  That took Balls!     The Europeans that left Europe at that time had a Genetic Propensity for danger, wanderlust, and curiosity.  Thusly America was founded by people that were different then the rest of the Europeans that stayed home and liked comfort.   Thats right,  Americans have it in their Genes (Canadians too)  to be inventors, and seekers, and the explorers of new horizons.  We do things,  or at least did things, with our dicks out so to speak.

Way to contradict yourself. We (technically) don't elect our own president and members of the legislature, the electoral college does. The electoral college was made to properly show members of a population in a given area, but they still do the voting as far as i'm aware. If someone could correct me without being an asshole that would be good.

the people elect officials who form the electoral college so that every part of the country is evenly shown in an election according to population. The people in the electoral college can understand who their section of the country wants to vote for, but in the end the elected official votes for the members of the legislature including the President. In theory this means that every member of the electoral college votes only in the best interest of their section of the country, however the system is obviously flawed so cynics will say that the people have no say, and realists will say that the end result of any election will be relatively accurate but not perfect. What can you do.

And a Representative Democracy and a Republic are pretty similar.

if you dont know what the electoral college is then dont talk about it. the electoral college is not a group of people or a committee at all. its sole purpose is to prevent sectionalism in the us

MA has a number of 12, cali has 55. these numbers are based on population. but ALL of them are either repub or dem (for all intents and purposes.) so if MA has an astounding 95% to 5% democratic vote, they still only get 12 pts. if cali has a 51% to 49% vote, its still 55 pts. this way, if 100% of the northeast region was democratic, then 100% of the popular vote (raw numbers vote) would be democratic. but if 51% of each state in the rest of the nation is republican, then the majority of the country is still republican (by this i mean the majority of the states,) but the popular vote could still be in favor of the democrats. with the electoral college, the voting system ensures that each state gets a saying without being overshadowed by another state

I do know enough about it to talk about it. The electoral college is a group of "electors" who vote for the President. These "electors" are people. The popular vote does have something to do with the electoral college, it's made so the the electors in the electoral college know which way their section of the U.S. leans (dem or rep.)

Don't call me out unless you actually have enough information to do so.

I may have made some mistakes because i'm exhausted, but I'm 99% sure that the electoral college is a group of people.

and theoretically that "guy" is who 95% of the states wants for president, but sadly, sometimes it doesn't work out that way, all I'm saying is that the U.S. isn't a full on democracy. It's a representative democracy apparently, and there's an undeniably noticeable difference between that and a democracy.

i like them when they defend our freedom. see REAL wars the last one being world war II. since then, they have not been used to defend our freedom. they have been used for political bullshit, and economic interests. none of this has to do with the individual soldier, this has to do with command, and our general use of our armed forces. also our ability to come up with awful ways to kill people

Haha getting pretty heated. Most people have a pretty good deal of national pride and that is good to a certain extent but come on people, you sound like 14 year old punks... oh ya NS.

I have seen a good portion of the world and there are pockets of good pretty much everywhere. I really like eastern Europe which is pretty poor for the most part, but it is awesome to visit. It might be a little depressing to live there but hey.

As I see it at one time the US was the best place in the world to live. That might not be the case any more but arguing that fact is pretty pointless. We have a lot of work to do in this country and the ultra arrogance bred by the baby boomers is slowing down progress (not to mention a divided political landscape and slipping academics.) So put your dick in your pants and start making this county better by getting an education, doing community service, and embracing the future.

And as for you guys outside the US, cut us a break. It gets pretty tiring hearing you guys rip us apart all the time when this country really has contributed a lot to the world. Imagine the would with out the US and if you really think it would be a better place I pity you.

I have faith that we will recover but it will be an uphill battle and we need the worlds help (just like we helped you) to accept change, better ourselves, and become the beacon of hope and progress the world needs.
