no, we arent perfect, but were by far better than any other country on this planet. i hate it when people point out things from countries, and then say, "look at this! the us doesnt have this!" well guess fuckin what? for everything the us doesnt have, the us has something that is 300x better

He lives/lived in Massachusetts. The concept of the Internet was already around long before Berners-Lee, and there were already other versions of the internet (check out ARPANET) that were invented in the US.

What Berners-Lee did was invent HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) which is the basis of the World Wide Web. However, internet ≠ World Wide Web.

explain to me a) why being powerful equates to a better country for its citizens (keep in mind countries like Russia, China) and b) why the United States is "300x" better than any other country?

For a country that has created a global recession, caused a war that has killed over 1 million innocent people (not a stat they usually broadcast in the US), has two political parties that are tearing the country apart, employs corporations that exploit the rest of the world for the sake of a few dollars, and is inhabited by douchebags like you I find it hard to believe that it is "300x" better than anywhere else.

Fact: Tons of Americans work minimum wage jobs, have to pay for groceries, education, healthcare (dont get me started), bills, etc. The idiots out of this group get credit cards and end up with tens of thousands of dollars of debt. Thus, life is shit.

a) not against capitalism.... but it is hard to ignore the suffering it imposes on people around the world in poorer countries (once you finish high school and leave your one sided educational institution you may understand, probably not)
b) arguable, and for how long with the complete lack of bi partisanship
c) not true, some very good medical researchers in not only Canada, but many European countries, the only medical advancements a 14 yr old like yourself will hear about will be on news, and anyways the medical academic world is not confined by borders but rather through respectable research institutions throughout the world.
d) you do give alot of humanitarian aid, that is true, kudos, and that is good and i respect that, but alot of aid is given only to countries which will adopt certain policies that will allow the US to cash in on them.
e) the UN is a sham, cmon everyone knows that
f) You didnt create the global economy, it began long ago with portugal and trade routes but was modernized mostly with the British and the industrial revolution
g) it is the most powerful country in the world
h) there is still a fairly serious war going on in Iraq and Afghanistan, possibly soon to be in Iran and Pakistan so lets not get to far ahead of ourselves.
