The professor I work for at MSU has been nominated every year for the last 4 years, hasn't one yet though. Hard to say if he will but we do some pretty crazy Alkali metal research and he has done 1/4 of all the research on Alkali metals ever done.. He is pretty old, maybe it is the kind of thing he will get after he retires and passes on or something.
Didn't look at the medical one that came out, I will have to.
So physics went to the invention of the CCD, good choice.
And chemistry went to the people behind the ribosome structure, good choice as well. And I have to CLAIM that I used to work for one of them, so I'm super stoked.
The submission deadline for nominations was Feb 1. Obama had only been in office for two weeks at the time......I thought it was for past work, not current endeavors......
