Otsego's park is supposed to be the best in the midwest this season.

The people that i know that go to otsego are rich and snobby snowboarders. Also i have herd that there pipe is absolute crap and in the past there park has not been that great.

For the mid west Otsego is a fun place

I am sure, for you guys there has been a weird past history of Otsego Resort as being the snobby expensive place... Planet comes into the picture with an open mind not being a part of that past and only moving forward to try to develop something of caliber that Michigan can take pride in.

It is pretty simple... If you ask us to build it... we will... if you ask us to improve it... we will... you can easily take advantage of our efforts in Michigan by simply participating

Bringing Planet to Michigan and Otsego was kind of like dropping the 2009 Ultimate Aero into 1908 when Ford came out with the Model T... it was hard for us to understand the product gap that existed and the in-ability to maintain anything in our absence... we have taken car of that this year by putting at least 1 Planet operator at Otsego over 80 day this winter... there will be no excuse for sub-par features

The planet crew and I visited all your resorts nubs, boyne, highlands, brighton, alpine etc... and seriously it was like looking at a 100 year gap in progression from what we were use to seeing.

Seems like since we came in to Michigan a couple years ago, most of the resorts are trying to step it up a bit which is great for everyone.

I was able to convince Otsego to open to the public the weekend of Dec 19th for $10 and also have a rail jam by MESS that night. Every contest day is open to the public so get on the contest schedule and you can ride for cheap. If there is a good showing in December from the public I would expect the owners to start to see the light a bit more

Weather permitting Planet should have a few jump lines open, snow-sk8 park and 15 or so of the rails going...as well as the indoor skate ramp... at least 3 of the 7 planned Planet Park Zones open

Just reading through some of the threads you guys posted...funny stuff...

No doubt the hill is short... relative to out west where I live and compared to all the other mountains I work with... yes they are a fraction of the length... however it is what it is... I don't need or want 3000ft vert at Snowbird to make a 450ft Olympic Spec'd pipe nor a 50ft jump... nor do I want a 22+ degree slope like I work with on Vail's Golden Peak to build the Vail Session on.

Your comparing Boyne to Otsego and claiming huge magnificent differences in elevation... the joke is your talking about 200ft difference...which in reality is more like 75ft of actual terrain park elevation based on park layouts...500 vertical of Boyne or 400ft of vertical at Otsego is pretty silly to even be brought up or mentioned at all.

Otsego or any of the hills in the mid-west or mid-Atlantic have the ability to have similar options as any other "Out West" resort maybe not in length but for sure in pipe, jump and rail quality and they can complete with quantity if resort management can see beyond their jaded historical view or groomers everwhere

 I live in the network of the sickest mtns in the world that we work with and build on and I think Otsego has a very fun and interesting venue for everything Terrain Park related.

We don't build just random parks we build what is considered the highest level of Park's and events in the industry and have for over 15 years now.

Because this is an Olympic year we are typically asked to facilitate training for the qualified participants and we have chosen Otsego as a perfect training environment for those athletes. This will hopefully bleed off and be a huge boost overall to all the resorts in Michigan.

Based on our build loads for December we wont put a ton of weight into Otsego until January when the 1st of 6 teams show up to start their training... our current December build schedule has us at the Canadian Olympic Park, Winter Park Co., Keystone Co, Mt Bachelor and Happo Japan as well as the Otsego resort.

In January we have more Japan builds, FIS world cup in Canada, Canadian National Team Pipe training, the Canadian Open, Mtn Dew event at Keystone, Stratton Vermont US-O Pipe,  and most importantly facilitating the Italian, NZ, Australian, German and Japan national Team training at Otsego

The US Team has also committed to making Otsego for the next few years its "Project Gold" Ski and Snowboard development center for all its athletes.

Damn, you guys sound pretty legit. I was at Winter Park last year, and it was dope. Every lip on every jump was perfect, every landing, every transition. Everything was sick. And I mean we've all seen how sick Keystone is in all the edits so yea sounds like you guys are the best. Sounds like you guys can make the sickest parks. BUT, the price is still a little ridiculous. You guys should try to compete price wise with other places around Michigan. I mean, how much is Marquette's season pass? 3 something for a student? Or even compared to out west, that epic pass is what? $599? For 3 or 4 resorts?? And some of the best resorts. I just think you guys should step back and re consider your price for people who actually love to ski everyday. The price seems to be for the people who ski once a month, just to see who can look the cutest on the hill, not for having fun.

otsegos park last year was not BIG by any means. they had a section with maybe 8 smaller rails, a section with 2 kickers i think a huge C rail and another large rail next to the pipe. and there was another section with 3 kickers. more jumps than most places in michigan but most of it was all roped off when i was there...

hope its better this year when i head that way. gotta love having 2 free day passes

It's all good in the hood

A couple or us Planet guys are heading there on Monday from the West Coast to start some builds

They are making snow now and depending on the qty's we will start to bring it

1st Priority Dec 19th Rail jam for Skiers and Boarders Open to the Public for $10
2nd Priority Jump Line on Chair 3 and Snow Sk8 park
3rd Priority 22 ft pipe
4th jump line on Chair 5
5th SX/BX trail top to bottom chair 5

the jump are literally as big as the hill will allow

cant build them bigger than you could ever have speed for!

sounds sick. it seems unlikely, but would it be possible to have a jump up by the time of the railjam on the 19th? also, any ideas for the setup yet?

I am hoping to have a jump line on 3 for that weekend

rest assured if there is snow I will build a jump regardless

there is only so much fun you can have pretending to be a skateboarder on rails

rail line will most likely be a two in line rail set with 3 rails on each island ending with two wall rides to finish side by side

the resort is open to the public the entire month of Jan as well... when the Olympic riders are on site

they now have the German, Japan, Swiss, New Zealand, Australian and Italian teams all scheduled for the month... kinda like a mini Olympics

I liked Otsego's park I skied there a couple time with some friends last year and for ski team in middle school (21 now.) Pretty good park, as for Boyne Mountain, I didn't think they're park was good really I think they had 3 or 4 rails on their main park and two jumps. I personally though BM's park was a lot better by Meadows or by Boyne Land.

yeah im a member here, and its defintely worth it, you should do a one year "test drive" to see if you like otsego, which im sure you will, the best place in michigan BY FAR!

Chair 3 park has 3 jumps 32, 25, 25 and two rail isalnds

Chair 2 park jump line with 35ft and 25ft option with 3 rails and wallride
it also has has 80% of the 22ft pipe built that should open Jan 3rd or so

Sitzmark rail yard has two rail islands 4 rails and snow sk8 park setup with 2 rails

Chair 1 park has 11 rails out and the ultimate sick option with 3 rail islands in a row with two rail options on each island and a ping pong section of barrel's, bouy jib, poll jam table top ect...
