its come that time for me to get a new laptop, but i need some help...
i really like mac's and enjoy using them, but they are so motherfucking expensive, you can get the same specs on a windows computer for about half the price, but i would prefer a mac. i have never used linux, and hear some good things about that too, so basically i would like some suggestions of computers that are fast, have good memory, and are capable to do a bunch of shit (editing, music, photo-editing...) so basically my question is, should i just buy a mac, or should i look into some other computers, and can you guys give me some suggestions on what could suit my needs well? any help will be appreciated.

if you want to use your computer to do anything with numbers/math/programming, get a pc, if you want to photoshop and use it for pointless stuff like that, get a mac

Windows 7 comes out 10/22/09...will be awesome and make the windows OS comparable to that of Mac's, so you can basically get the same computer with just as good of an OS for half the price.
I have beta tested Windows 7 so I have some credibility.

editing rules out linux, because as far as i know, theres no good editing programs that run on there. so from their you have to decide, final cut vs premiere. i prefer final cut personally. but i also fucking hate PCs at this point, i had such shitty experiences with them, and have had an awesome time with my mac.

final cut= the shit.
best editing program i have ever used, although i dont have much experience with premier besides just fucking around on it.
most of my negative experience with pc has just been cause by windows, but if 7 really is as good as i have heard that could fix a lot of issues. what is really comes down to for me is the money, and if im willing to sacrifice osx for more power.

I too would suggest Windows 7. It is going to be fucking amazing. Although, with Windows you must securely guard your computer (from Viruses etc.) Sometimes that's more of a hassle than it's worth. And as a second note Final Cut is the most amazing software I have ever seen. Friend has it. Blew my mind when we were editing shit.

Not that hard to do, get Commodo, a free anti-virus program that is EXCELLENT. Plus, Macs can get viruses too. That is just a common misconception. Soon enough there will be just as bad of viruses for Macs as there are for PCs

get a sick PC for the price of a Mac, get double the specs, windows 7, and dual boot linux on it to try it out
