California was a republic on it's own before it decided to become a state as well... Its tenure as an independant republic wasnt as long as that of Texas...
Hence the CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC on our awesome flag with a goddamn fucking asskicking bear on it, and a LONE STAR...
So texas, you can take youre whole republic bullshit and stick it up Chuck Norris' ass! Bruce Lee was from California, and we all know what happened when he and Chuck Norris dualed it out...
I'm not exactly fearful of the situation in my state... I see "HIRING" signs all over the place here (in fact, my ski shop is currently hiring 2 new manager positions, and at least 5 more associate positions, so boo yah) The only reason people are unemployed is because they havent gotten with the system, nor has the system been able to give current, accurate numbers. Not to mention, that whole 12% unemployment is skewed by the unemployed immigrants number... I'm sure its alot closer to the national average than it shows.
We are by no means filled to the brim with illegals, and by no means any more than texas, which touches more of mexico than any other state... There's a lot of illegals here, sure... but hey, those illegals work their fucking face off and work the jobs that nobody else in this state is willing to work whatsoever (hence why so many are unemployed - its the lazy white fuckers who dont want to work a real hard working job, or get pissed just because they cant find a 6 figure slot and they wont settle for less) Unless you work in the military, have a mean resume, or have a college education, you cant get a job in this state in anyplace higher than the aformentioned Del Taco (which is awesome because they have 25 cent taco days twice a week!)... So I applaud those illegals... they kick ass and they contribute a shitload towards this state's economy - especially in agriculture.
everyone who has jobs here has a life here, and by no means is going to move to texas and get blown over by tornados and hurricanes unless they get a job offer they absolutely cannot refuse...
immigrant farmworkers make less than minimum wage, under the table, fucking table scraps for their work... and they are doing the absolutely filthiest fucked up jobs if they end up getting a custodian position or something... and dont even get me started with how poorly they get treated along the way...
They do have to pay sales tax on everything, and our sales tax is already crazy like 9.9% or something, so they definitely contribute there...
Either way, Immigrants HARDLY make a dent in that in comparison to what this state actually gets back on the dollar compared to other states when it comes to federal income tax.
While people in Colorado, Utah, and other smaller states are getting 1.10 or 1.20 back on every dollar they throw into the federal income tax pot, Californians get absolutely hosed with something ridiculous like MAYBE 79 cents on the dollar. We have to support ourselves pretty much the whole time, and yet, if we go down the tubes, the rest of the country goes down the tubes, seeing as we are like 10% of the national population, and make up something like 1/4 of this nations economic wealth..
We have the highest property taxes, and the highest cost of living in the nation, and SOMEHOW we pay for all of that shit while getting totally assraped by congress. I dont see how illegal immigrants, being underpaid for their efforts, and in many cases backboning the economy here really hurt this state's budget when there's really just so many other factors at play that fuck this shit up...
Holy shit.. the school system here is fubar beyond belief... overcrowded, underfunded, and internationals and out of state students get first priority because they pay more in fees...
Yet californians hoof the taxes on every paycheck for the schools... and people like myself, as I found out last semester, couldnt even transfer into a 2nd tier state system school like Sacramento or San Jose state... I had all the grade requirements and was turned away at the door. Not only that, but the system is probalby the only one in the nation ever-all time to close to applicants for the spring. Therefore i'm sitting on my ass in a jr. college computer lab, when I have a 3.3 gpa... and i cant afford all the out of state schools that have accepted me and want me...
so yeah... the schools are getting crotchkicked more than anything... so much so i'm looking at legitimately moving to montana in a few months..
