Why cant Simon Dumont...

Im probably going to be hated a bit for this but..
Why cant Simon Dumont just use Salomons in-store models as everyone else on the team seems to be doing. I mean, the guys seems to have some hybrid ski everytime i see him on the screen.

What im trying to say, if the company pays him, give him skis so he can rep their company he should atleast be able to ride their skis without that they had to make "new" skis for him.

The new design + the old model = The exclusive Dumont pro model.

I know the only evidence i could find right away was the Slumdog Illionare edit and to screenshots from EDIAS. But i guess most of you know what im talking about.

I don't know how it works, but I know he did like the old model enough to keep it exactly the same two years in a row. Those skis were the sickest thing to ride ever, but they weren't really durable

It's not like he's not repping Salomon and it's not like he can't ski the newest models either.  If you look at the skis you can clearly tell that they're Salomon, so he's still repping the company.  Plus, the skis he uses are probably suited for his own reasons like personal preference.

Well thats your point of view. Mine is that if your getting payed to ski on some skis, you should atleast use the model that the kids are going to buy next year in the stores.

He likes to old model better obviously, which makes sense since the old model is better. They "hybrid" his skis cause they want to advertise them still. I don't get why they just don't remake the old model - it was so much fun.

Is it really that important?? I mean we all know hes a salomon rider so what difference does it make if hes riding some custom numbers or not?

yes! well, atleast they got skier that are waaaay more talented than him in the park on their team right now. the tricks i saw of dumont this year, i think i have seen 2-3 years in a row now

thats true, but im never going to buy a Dumont ski, cause of that. The suspect is for me, assosiated with better skiing.

you don't just 'throw' skis at the big names of your brand. i'm sure hes actively involved in their product development. telling a big name what they have to ride is quick way to send them to a rival company. isn't that why candide kept leaving everyone? he wanted to be involved with developing an entire line of skis and his sponsors kept giving him park pro models. so, he bounced between sponsors until he found one that let him be involved in the way he wanted to be. at least, thats how i remember it.

Enjoy your skis falling apart in 2 weeks.

I don't know about you but I buy my skis because of the way they ski not because some pro is riding them and he is good so that will automatically make me good.

I know most of the salomon team and most of the "next years skis" you see are on their feet are prototypes as well. Just because the graphic screams next years XXXXXXX doesn't mean it's that ski.

Also simon is a major pipe skier, have you (TC) ever guessed that Simon uses different skis in the pipe as to when he is in the park?

Besides, the fact that you know simon isn't riding his next years ski, salomon already has you right where they want you from a marketing standpoint.

simon is such a sick skier. maybe he is not so good at park but he has pushed halfpipe skiing so far with going hUGE he introduced 1260 to x games. he has started gettin ignant and i think he will be more enjoyable to watch. his skis are sicktoo i don't know why he gets so much hate was he an asshole to some of you? or do you just hate on him because he is good?

salomon makes alot of skis that are mixed of models, mixed graphics ect. I had a pair of original dumonts with the new graphics last year, they make alot of skis and put newer./older graphics on them

You know most "pro" skiers don't ride the skis that are in the store? Most also don't wear the actual cloths that go into stores, etc.

Part of his job is to test prototypes and expiriment with ski designs so Salomon can try to change and improve their skis from year to year, so to me it makes sense that he would ride skis that aren't on the market. Plus, if you had the option of having your skis customized exactly how you wanted them and cost wasn't a problem, wouldn't you take advantage of it?

this kid is obviously angry that dumont is a pro and hes not. hell if I were dumont i would ride only custom one of a kinda skis that no one would ever even get to touch just to rub it in the faces of kids like the one that started this thread

So motorsports drivers should use production spec cars? The guy is one of the top athletes in his field, he needs a higher performing ski than little Jimmy can buy off the shelf.

i dont understand how some people are saying that salomon dosent care i would think that more people would buy them if they knew it was the exact personal choice of simon. him riding the companies skis is proof that they will perform and without that i know i would be less likely to but the ski

Let the gentleman do what he wants, though all I can say is that Seth rides the same skis you buy in the shop. So all the "No pros ride factory skis" guys" don't have much of an argument.

Salomon, just like Armada claims and stands by the fact that what they sell is the same thing their athletes use. Just because it has the 2009 topsheet on the 2008 mold, is no reason to hate on the company. That ski is still available. It's just cosmetics

pollard has basically never ridden a ski off the shelf, he constantly rides protos

it's how they determine what ski is best to give to the public, they don't just think of something, their pro skis it, and then have no innovation for the next year

pollard didn't even ride real bacons in the product video last year, they were rockered
