Fall is for fly fishing

Don't get me wrong, I'm stoked for winter but right now I'm super amped on this cold weather that's coming to Utah cause it's gonna get the fall hawg hunting going.  Anyone else out there as addicted as i am?  Chucking meat isn't just for skiing.

It just started picking up in SW Montana in the past week or two, the fishing has been amazing. I'm about ready to start chucking streamers at some fall browns!

Been real good lately here outside Missoula in the evenings.  If your fishing the right fly its a hit every other cast and 10"+ rainbows and brook trout.  Almost as fun as skiing when your catching big fish.  The other day we caught 2 13" brook trout and a 16" rainbow in like 20 minutes.

Yes I am as addicted as you.  I fish the Gunnison/Taylor/East rivers often.  Also there are so many hidden high alpine ponds around Crested Butte that are full of hogs, and yes fall is the time to SLAY!

Sick guys!  I'm glad i'm not alone on here.  I've been tying up a bunch of nasty articulated streamers.  They're gonna hunt! I'm super stoked for the browns and some fall spawning bows here.  Also super stoked to hit this stillwater with BIG tiger trout in it.  Their colors get out of this world in the fall.

I'd love to see some of those CO hogs you're talking about.  A lot of those tailwaters like the Gunnison with their mysis shrimp create MONSTER fish from what I've seen/heard.

13" brookies aren't bad either.  Gotta love the brookies.  Love the colors this time of year.  This thread wouldn't be complete without some pics so let's see em.  Here's one to start it out.

I let him go to get even bigger.  I release 99% of the time.   It was a feast on the eyes though.  Site fished him in like a foot of water.

A few different fish from a recent day on a utah stream. 22-26".
Fall is the best time to fish! Really good hatches of bugs, and all the amateurs start getting off the water due to the weather. Being a guide its really great cause my trips slow down compared to the tourist driven summer, so I get to fish a lot more for myself.

No it's not, I would shit myself if I caught a tiger like that, if anything it's a cutbow. There are only cutties and rainbows where I got this.

I would probably keep fly fishing and bird hunting if it wasnt so terrible in western washington. Well obviously there are places to go but it just takes a lot longer to get there than say if I lived in Montana or Wyoming. Used to do both as a lot when I was a kid, fun stuff jealous of people who can~

Thats what I like about the Midwest. Lots of big deer, fishing spots, pheasant and coyote to go around. Plus its within easy driving distance. I dont give a shit about skiing anymore, but i wouldnt be able to live without hunting.
