Need help with a logo...someone whos good with photoshop

im trying to get a surf company off the ground, and i just suck with photoshop, plain and simple. if anyone out there is bored or something, and wants to do me a huge favor and help create my vision thatd be super sweet. will this said person get credit for creating the logo, payed, or anything of that sort?

if not then why do it for your profit?

you do know that companies do pay people thousands upon millions of dollars to create a logo?

how do you think the nike "check" came about?!?

is that post is a joke then "haha.." no im not paying anyone, i just didnt know if someone felt like helping me out. im gonna gonna be worth a trillion dollars anytime soon, and you can bet if i ever was id pay the person who designed my logo. what goes around comes around, i just didnt know if someone wanted to help me out.

Frist of all...its a " nike swoosh", not a "check"...

second, you're completely right and generally summed up what i was thinking when i read the OP's post.

Creating a logo for some crew, that really has no hope or ambition to make profit is one thing, but creating a logo for a company, that will essentially help to legitimize the company as a brand is another story. people get paid for that kind of thing. its like asking someone "hey, if you're bored, wanna paint my house for me?"...either its not gonna hapen, or you better be paying them SOMETHING.

The Nike swoosh came from a student that got paid barely anything if I'm not mistaken.

Something like $50 if I remember.
If you are a start up id say look for a designer who is also starting up and looking for work to put in their portfolio, that way you both have something to gain from eachother. Also when the logo is finalized you could hook up any shwag that you print ( t shirts and stuff ) as a form of payment.
