Life changing exposure (lol)

today, while i was sitting down to dinner with my family, i decided to show my dad something new. my dad is 48 (or is it 49?) and hes been skiing like all his life. this means he's one of those old people who complains that freestyle skiing is "so boring," and instead prefers to watch videos of people moving down a hill. and up a hill. and down a hill. so i sit him down in front of the youtube, and i say "dad, meet tom wallisch," and instantly his entire attitude towards freestyle skiing is reversed.

has anyone ever had a similar experience?

The only other skier I know is my dad and freestyle skiing impressed him immediately, first he saw was last year's X games I think because it was happening while I was on a ski trip with him.

My dad's 60 and been skiing his whole life until a few years ago when he had to give up. When i first got Ski Movie and High Society we watched Seth Morrison shred together and he loved it.

My dad doesn't ski never has never will. He will watch the Xgames or any other ski event on tv even if im not home its awesome. its nice to come home and have him say "Oh tanner hall won super pipe today"

you guys are so lucky, my dad used to ski but had to quit cause of his knees, and hated taking us up to our house, i had to beg him. and now he wont let me go to college out west, mother fucker.

my whole family skis. my mom keeps up on freestyle skiing its awesome. she recently sent me a link to EDIAS trailer asking if i saw it. it was awesome

My dad uses my old 174 sal. 1080 foil's, bought my sister '08 179 line blends, mom's still on the old 160-ish sal. spaceframes.

by the sound of it, the reason he didn't wanna take you to his house was cuz it probably hurt him to much  since he used to ski

my dad skis and is pretty good, nothing spectacular. he appreciates freeskiing though. but my uncle is the sickest technical skier i know. not at park or BC or anything, but his form is perfect

My dad used to watch rail segments, and he'd be impressed, but he couldn't really relate to any of the skill involved. Then I got him to slide a few flat rails, and suddenly rail segs have gone from, "huh, that's pretty impressive" to "wow, did you see that?! That was insane!"

my dad slays pow, sometimes together with me. hes making fun of my hellbents and says its to easy with them and that he is doin the real shit haha
sometimes he stops by at the park to slide the flat and up down box and falls on his hips and yells like FUUCK ... he once fell so hard cuz he cant slide rails that i thought he'd be injured haha he wasnt!
I love people that love skiing and respect all its ways and variations!

i grew up chasing my dad, and now he chases me

he moved from ontario to BC for 8 years and in the time he was there bought a condo with my godfather at big white in the 1980's, back when he was a true ski bum

for those who know big white, its the  whitefoot condo's, which are about as much floor space as a mini van

he skied for the first time on canadian tire 225cm straight edge skis at age 13 or 14 and now goes heli skiing every year with his friends, or cat skiing (im gonna go with him some day)

oh and ya hes 53

my moms not the biggest fan of the new skis (says they are to heavy) and she laughs at tall-t's. but shes been skiing forever and traveled alot. total ski bum, skied out an avalanche when she was younger, works up the mountain with me. might get annoying when she disses new stuff but she totally understands my love for the sport.

My dad doesn't ski, but he thinks freestyle skiing is beyond cool, especially jumps. He was super stokes when my brother learned backflips last year and whenever we get a new ski movie he watches it with us and proclaims whether it's good or bad, and why, which is hilarious.
My mom is scared to death that my brothers and I are going to end up horribly disfigured and crippled from skiing and constantly gives us hints that we should stop skiing and focus only on school and pick up tennis or some other sport.

my dad has twin tips.  he used to to some spins when he was younger, but now hes like 52 and usually quotes the rabbit saying "tricks are for kids"

my dad fucking rips on skis he just finds the whole thug culture absolutely hilarious

we go to mt snow together and ride up the carinthia chair just laughing at people with ridiculous outfits.....i will admit several of those people had ns stickers on their skis.....

ever since i started racing it's changed from me following him to him trying to keep up with me. but he rides fat twins (in b4 immaturity kthx) with dukes and kills it, he just mostly likes touring so i dont ski with him a ton tho

haha. my dad is 60 and rocks scratch bcs. the white and yellow ones from a couple years back.

he does 180s, and he likes going off some jumps and cliffs and skiing switch. lol

my dad used to ski, just as much as i do. and my mom did a bit too, but it was never as big of a thing for either of them.
honestly so much of the stuff i do is related to skiing that my parents know a ton about all the park freestyle shit, even like the tall tees and everything. ha and my parents both know what jiberish is and who tom wallisch is because they always find me watching edits and shit.

yeah. my sister who is a racer said that freeskiing is ruining skiing as a sport. so i showed her a bunch of edits from 4bi9 and such. changed her mind completely

My dad doesn't ski but he definetely understands it. He has encouraged me to go down to chile or COC before, I hope to one of these days. I told him once I was going to buy a moped and drive all the way to Mt Hood, (15, can't get lisence yet, but i can drive a moped) and he said "go right ahead.

My parents do there best to understand park skiing; took me to watch the Dew tour.
Last year at X-games big air my friends and i were discussing how Simon could've won and only idiots would have voted for him. All-of-a-sudden, my dad comes into the room and exclaims, How cool Simon Dumonts Double was. It was pretty funny
