Wisdom For You :: Nice Guys Finish Last

It’s amazing that assholes can get girls. Actually, now that I think of it, it’s not that amazing. They are assholes at heart, but to meet girls they lavish their undying love. IT’S A CHARADE. They act nice, friendly, and they listen… until they get into what they’re after. Their prey thinks they are in love with them, however when they realize what assholes their predators really are, they pretend like the asshole is really nice inside. The girl tries to change the asshole into a nice guy, but assholes will always be assholes. She gets upset and goes to the nice guy to complain about the asshole. But she claims to love the asshole… now this is where the theory begins. She doesn't’t want to look like she is easy so she wont dump the asshole right away, instead she will stay with the asshole. Girls are idiots. They don’t realize that the nice guy has been there all along. He never had to pretend to be a good guy to get girls because he is naturally like that. However, girls don’t see it for some reason or another. They look at the nice guy as a friend, a trusted companion to whom they can tell their sad story to about their asshole boyfriend. But the nice guy isn’t THAT naïve. He was trying to score with the girl he listens to all along. The problem is that since he is a nice guy he keeps listening. Since girls get attached to things that pay attention to them, they think of the nice guy as a friend. A FRIEND. They don’t say, “Oh he’s hot” or “I want to have his children” about the nice guy, they just want the emotional support. When they get the emotional support from the nice guy, they don’t need it from the asshole. The nice guy gets the shit end of the stick while the asshole gets all the action. I am starting to wonder if being a nice guy is really the route to take to get action… I have been down this path for all of my post-pubescent life and it has gotten me NOWHERE… at least not in the women department. Perhaps another reason why girls fall for the asshole is because assholes ignore the girl they are with. The women wonder, “Why isn’t he paying attention to me?” so they explore why. They poke and prod and get closer to the asshole. They start to get easier with each attempt to get closer. The asshole finally says, “I’ve let this beauty dangle long enough, time to boat this bass”. It is then he puts on his charade and the girl feels like she has won him… even thought all she has won is an asshole. Once you have gone down the path as a nice guy or a “listener” you can’t turn back. The girl will always go after the assholes because there are always nice guys there to listen. Once you realize that you are a “listener” you cant do anything about it… just pack up and close shop. There is no way you will get into her pants… ever. There is and never will be a situation where the nice guy will get the girl he has a crush on. It just doesn’t work like that. The girl wont “come to her senses” and realize what an asshole her boyfriend is like in the movies… instead she will just go after another asshole, and unless you stop being a nice guy, she will never go after you. Women complain that there are no nice guys in the world. Right. They are obviously not looking hard enough because there are nice guys EVERYWHERE!!!! Girls aren’t looking for nice guys… they say they are but they’re not. They are looking for the perfect asshole, but there is NO SUCH THING as the perfect asshole. All in all, the nice guy gets the shaft. To all the girls out there with boyfriends that don’t treat you with respect, that don’t listen to you, and that don’t care about you I say this; look next to you. The guy that has been standing next to you the whole time is the guy you have been looking for. He is what you want your asshole to be like. He knows more about you than you know about yourself… because he has listened to it all.

i didn't read you whole post, in fact i stopped after the second sentence, because you are clearly missing out on a certain type of girl. if you want fake n bake hoes, be an asshole, they fall for that shit everytime, trust me its easy, but then somewhere after the first say, 10 minutes of hanging out with the girl you realize that she is vapid, moronic and utterly useless, that is of course unless you love vh1 and extreme makeovers. so i stopped paying attention to that sort of girl a long time, unless of course i just want a hook up. start looking for the smart girls, the compassionate ones, the ones that have some substance to them, they don't look for assholes and they'll like you if you are the rare, interesting insightful person that you believe yourself to be. fuck, my girlfriend from this past summer looked like a mix of demi moore and jennifer connely and she had a fuckin brain in her head and it was amazing. i don't really know where i'm going with this, other than kids like you need to start looking for the right type of girl. my guess is you are still in high school and you'll figure it out soon enough. its a you are what you eat type of thing. thanks for tuning in.

i myself am going for a beautiful girl that is so amazingly sweet, nice and smart. She is down-to-earth and likes to laugh. After my last girlfriend i realized that i don't want a shoddy relationship based on her getting drunk and wanting sex.At the beginning it wasn't like that, she was nice and all, but it turned that way after like 3 months. That's what the asshole guys want, and surprise surprise she's sleeping with all the assholes now.

but that article is kind of true.....my best friend is an asshole to chicks (or more like he just doesn't give a shit) and he gets more ass than i do

wtf is wrong with some girls, how can you not realize that the person is an asshole and treating you like shit???

actually something happened to me tonight. after this girl broke up with her asshole boyfriend, she likes me i like her, she says i miss him, acting like i have no feelings for her, and she gets all confused when i get upset.

is it hard to see that when you talk about another guy to someone who you know likes you can make them upset???? whats wrong with their brain to think, hey maybe i should talk about this guy even though he gets pissed off everytime i mention him

I long ago decided not to sacrifice my principles to get laid, because A) I really don't care that much; I have too much dignity to become, essentially, a man-whore and B) It's basically a hunting philosophy, which amounts to settling for what you can get, and who the hell wants that? Well...apparently, a lot of people, but not me.

So I'll just be the nice, understanding guy with all the insights who wouldn't even sleep with you if you were desperately trying to get over your boyfriend. (The aforementioned has actually happened, I've often been the guy my female friends talk to about their boyfriends, so I sort of know what this article's getting at, except that I don't have any interest in my female friends). So I guess the whole piece presupposes that we all want the girl who's dating the asshole. I don't, but hell, listening to them sure helps me understand life better.

I realize I don't have a lot of prospects this way, and that's fine, because when I do end up with the right person, she'll actually BE the right person, and not just 'What I could get'. Nothing else is even worth it.

^Haha I've been doing it for years, I kind of expect most of the things they say, or at the very least they don't surprise me, because I've helped a lot of girls with relationships (and talked to their boyfriends on occasion, to get better perspective). They seem to think I always have the answers, when in fact it's them who actually have very common problems.

The funny thing is, once they get a boyfriend who treats them alright, they tend to stop talking to me, or at least don't do nearly as much of it, unless the thing goes sour again. Makes it pretty easy to tell who's worthwhile, even if I'm not in any position (nor do I have any real desire to) make something of it. Interesting as anything though.

^Yeah, no. Don't do that. You've got to be able to control jealousy, it's one of the worst things you can have until you get into a relationship, almost all of them pick up on that sort of thing and assume you're in it for yourself, and don't care what they think. Once you're in a relationship, though, many girls complain about jealous boyfriends, but at some level like the idea that they're wanted so much. It depends on the girl though, but generally, you're not on the right track there.

JD got it right with his first post in this topic. I will also add:

I agree with the nice guy part, where the girl will talk to you about all their problems, but i volunteered as the nice guy because i want them to be happy. I'm usually that girls friend and i can't think of having sex with them if i had the chance. I offer my support and insight as a friend with the hopes that they will open there eyes or if not, at least cheer up.

i agree with martock_freestylist thats also my role in the whole story but i sometimes really hate that because when i get to know a nice girl and talk to her, have fun with her for some time and it seems to me like ive got the chance to start something with that girl i just end up being the same nice and understanding guy as i was at the beginning...hopefully i know a lot of girls that don't talk to me about those things like their ex-boyfriend that i like a lot too. and my best friend is in the same situation as i am so we sit down at the end of a day and have fun with the shit we heard in the last few hours..and that can be goooood fun

i think from all this all there is to be concluded is that all guys are assholes...

if he is a 'nice guy' then really he just wants in your pants just like all the other guys but is alittle nicer than the straight up asshole. and when i say every guy i mean maybe 1000 guys in US are aactuallly true nice guys. us guys arent doing it on purpose its just the way we are..

JD, you just stole the words right out of my mouth. that is exactly what i was thinking as i read the original post and peoples responses.
i'm a nice guy, and im kinda shy when it comes to girls and havent had that many girlfriends in my life. but it doesnt bother me because i know that eventually i will meet the perfect girl. then i have friends who sleep with girls they meet at parties all the time, and since i dont partake in such manwhoring, they get the idea that they need to help me. they say stuff like, 'hey, you need to get laid, i'll hook you up with a girl at a party.' most of my friends cant even begin to comprehend my ideals. they dont grasp the concept that i dont want to go out and sleep with some random girl i met at party. its just annoying to be surrounded with that type of attitude.
