Is skiing progressing faster than snowboarding technically?
I was just wondering if skiing was being pushed to new limits in the technical aspect of tricks. Such as some skiers doing triples. Anyone know if any snowboarders have done triples?
After watching Transitions I would say, YES! While skiing isn't as creative and popular as snowboarding, over the length of their respective histories skiing has progressed faster. If you've seen Transitions you've seen how far the sport progressed in just a very short time. It doesn't seem like it, but it was only 2 years ago that switch skiing became popular in Half Pipe comps (I know it's been around longer, but not seen in comps), and as far as big air, 12s, 14, and even 16s have been thrown, right now a 12 is a huge trick in snowboarding. Durtschi's segment in EDIAS was one of the best and most creative segments I've seen in a long time. Yes, snowboarding is more "creative" on rails, but what Andy Parry and Will Wesson and even Mike Hornbeck are doing on rails these days, the creativity is really stepping up. I do really believe that Skiing is progressing faster than snowboarding when looked at long term (from the beginning of "Freestyle" Snowboarding to today, and the beginning of "freestyle" skiing [what we know today as freestyle, not moguls] to today).
i would say that skiing is progressing faster, idk it just seems like there are so many new tricks in skiing and snowboarding seems like same old stuff but i don't watch snowboarding enough to know for sure
hahaha no. like somebody already said, skiing has been around exponentially longer than snowboarding. and that's besides the fact that they were doing half of this stuff long before we were.
they're two completely different things. they really cant be compared. stop trying to compare 2 completely separate things. things can be done on skis that cant be done on a snowboard. things can be done on snowboards that cant be done on skis.
however, I think snowboarding is progressing moreso technically wheras in skiing i feel like things are getting bigger and more spinny and shit, but not so much technical
