Google Voice is amazing

I don't know how many people on here heard about Google Voice, but it seems like the most kickass thing ever. Have one number, a google number, and have all your phone numbers connected with it, work, phone, cell. You have free incoming and outgoing calls, and free texting. Have an account online where you can see all your calls, texts, and voicemails, and even have your voicemails transcribed to texts.

my family has google voice and its not the greatest. its new so i guess they have a lot of bugs and shit to fix. sometimes the calls dont go through and theres this weird thing where when people call you they need to say there name first and then its rings. idk. it has the potetial to be great but right now, not so much

I don't think its as cool as it could be.

I go super excited when I got my invite. Then I thought I would be able to call out like with skype.... yeah, you can't. So when my phone broke I was still using skype.

The only time I use it at all is when I meet someone that I maybe don't want to give my number to, but at the same time they could be a good connection.

Also, its a huge pain changing phone numbers and you have to redo your contact list and what not so that it doesn't just show up with the google number.

If they can incorporate google chat with it and have it work for a mac, it will be more impressive.

Also, at&t for the iphone blocked it. But I hear you can use it with an iphone hacked to work with tmobile.

This is what I get when I sign

Google Voice is a service that gives you one number for all your phones, voicemail that is easy as email, and many enhanced calling features like call blocking and screening, voicemail transcripts, call conferencing, international calls, and more.

Google Voice is currently available for GrandCentral users only, but will be open to new users soon. In the meantime, please leave us your email address and we'll notify you as soon as Google Voice becomes available. To learn more about Google Voice, check out our feature videos.

When can I sign up?
We expect to have the service ready for new users in a matter of weeks, and are focused on opening it as soon as possible.

What if I reserved a number on the GrandCentral site before?
We will be emailing you when Google Voice is open to the public to sign up for the service.

How much does it cost?
The service is free.

What do I do if I am already a GrandCentral user?

you can actually get all calls for free if you set up your google voice as a "friends and family" number, and have people call it, and only call from it.

youll never have to use another minute really

i got myself an invite but i havent register yet and gotten a number, ive been kind of waiting to here more about what i can do with it.  and whats this apple has blocked it because if it wont work on my iphone ill be pissed

apple didnt block google voice, they blocked a google voice app

you can still use voice like everyone else can and does with your iphone




some cool new features that came out not to long ago, you can now link your regular phones voicemail up with google voice, so google voice will transcribe, record, email you when people leave voice mails on your regular number.

you can also press "4" when someone calls your voice number and it will record the phone call

Yes GV is sick. I got about a hundred Instant invites let me know if anyone needs em. I may sell them for a few bucks since you wont have to wait like usual and you pick your own number!

I invite people for $20 on craigslist. For NS I will consider $10. The difference with me is that you get it instantly instead of waiting a year or whatever it is now. I have gave a lot out for free but now I noticed they are selling like tamagotchi's!

It used to be better, say I call person 1 with google voice but I set my number as person 2s number. Person 1 and 2 both get a call from the other person and are mad confused But now you have to confirm changing your number

i have some invites for $4. i paid for a bunch of em so i dont have to wait. i guess $10 is ridonkulous on NS but i sold some for $20 last week but now there selling for like $10 on Craigslist or even $5 sometimes

It's free for domestic calls, and I think pretty cheap internationaly. Google voice used to be called grandcentral
