New camera, new help

so i ended up getting the canon hv40 and thought that i could just deal with imovie to work with it and i can't get it to work. What software should i use or is it still possible to use imovie. Is there any free software? any help? thanks

What do you mean cant get iMovie to work, cant upload footage? Cant figure out iMovie? Cant get your computer to even recognize your camera? going to have to be more specific than "cant get it to work"

haha sorry. when i plug my camera in, the computer doesn't recognize the camera and nothing happens

you using a usb or firewire? is your camera in playback mode?

macs dont recognize cameras via usb as far as I know.
