To start off I have a Yamaha PRS-E403. Its a really cheap $150 keyboard I stole from my little sister. It has a logo on it that says "general MIDI." I downloaded the latest drivers and when I connect it to my computer nothing happens, as far as being able to make sounds using the garage band samples. I intend on using logic Pro 8, but to start off I'm just gonna get it to work with garage band. Am I using the wrong kind of keyboard? It has a USB cord which connects between the computer and the keyboard, not a midi cord. Do I need a differnt keyboard? sorry I'm not specific at all really. But someone who understands midi, am I using the right kind of keyboard?
if it has a usb cord, you should be able to hook it up to your computer, download the drivers, and select it as a controller in your software. otherwise with midi, you would have a midi to usb or a midi to interface to computer connection, and then download drivers and select.
