Long, fat & soft BC jib ski - S7 vs Thug vs ...?

I'm totally sorry for asking for a ski recommendation but I'm having a tough time deciding on new fat skis. I'm 6'4 and only about 180lbs but I like long skis and want to mount about about 3cm back from centre. These will be mainly BC jib including switch, a little touring (I'll just deal with the weight), plus cruising and maybe a few park kickers when need be. I demoed Hellbents in fresh conditions last year and totally didn't like their handling so I'm not sold on full-rocker skis at all.

So, the options. I can get a deal on 195 S7s which have an extra layer of metal apparently - anyone got experience with S7 for BC jib? I'm just not sure how they'd be switch (yes I saw the vid of Spriggs slaying switch with S7s but that's Spriggs, not me). 192 Atomic Thugs are the other main contender. No rocker (which I don't care about too much), but pretty much a big fat soft park ski which is what I'm really looking for, they seem like they'd be nicer switch.

I'm not too open to other suggestions really. I'm looking for around 110-120mm waist, must be over 190cm and I'm not charging too hard so a softer ski is preferable and I can only get certain brands cheap. Czars are meant to be pretty stiff according to my rep, and the Head Jimi isn't a full twin. ON3P Caylors seem like a more serious rocker than I think I'd like and I won't get them as quickly and it's a more expensive option.

I would suggest Bentchetlers even thougt they arent a 190cm+ ski but they still would be great. And next year i believe they turend the thigs onto the atlas.

Or maybe youy could try some 186 Line Sir Francis Bacons. they would be an ideal ski for you weven thought they arent 190cm+

What about moment skis, the bibby has two different lengths with two different characteristics.

Or aramda's, but I don't think you're looking for something like the ARG's.

I can't really think of many, maybe ON3P makes a ski that would fit you. I don't think you would be interested in czar's, and you already said no hellbents. Maybe SFB's or EP Pros, but i believe they're both rockered more than you want.

Then again, I'm an east coast park rat and ski disorderly's and have pretty much never skied more than 2 inches of fresh powder, and that was in colorado, so if i'm wrong, it's because of where i ski.

Really looking for 190+. If I was smaller then Bacons or JJs would be perfect but my friend who is about 5'6 skis Bacons so I just can't believe they'd be enough ski for me.

I'm really leaning towards Thugs now since they're looking best for switch, occasional park, touring, and are cheapest ...unless someone can convince me S7s are going to handle well switch.

The 186 Bibby's too would be sick if I was smaller, you smaller guys don't know how good you've got it! The 190 sounds more full-on than I'm looking for and I think it might be only semi-twin tail. Plus I can't really get Moment cheap.

ON3P are more expensive and don't ship for a while which means I'll be in Austria when I get them and will have to pay for a mount which is even more cost. If I was looking for a full rocker ski I'd go with Hellbents probably.

Surface, they seem alright but no way of getting them cheap.

There is a video on here somewhere that was posted by one of PBP's filmers, it was cut footage from their last film. It featured John Spriggs absolutely killing the BC and some random parking lot jibs on S7s. I will post back with the link if I can find it.

I applaud your choice on skis, I would own both if I could justify them. The Thugs have one of the best flex patterns ever, the first time I flexed them in a shop, I was dreaming about riding them for weeks.

Can't get hold of 4FRNT easily either, and 193 EHP is pretty much a flat tail.

Thugs are making the mot sense still.

thugs would be perfect man, such a great ski. kinda like a slightly beefier maden ak from back in the day.

they're softish but still charge when necessary, not much camber, not much sidecut which will be great for touring and allows you to either make huge pow turns and at the same time they release really easily if you wanna slash or get sideways to scrub speed. seriously, my brother rides them and i've ridden them a couple of days and they are phenomenal.

faling that, you may wanna look into this year's gotama which has a tad of rocker, will be stiffer than thugs though and (only) 108 at the waist. if you can find some maiden aks from a couple seasons back they'd work great too.

other seemingly suitable skis of which i have no experience would be 187 coreUPT richard permin pros which are great value. black crows have dropped a ski called the sevun this year which looks interesting, but if their other skis are any indication, its unlikely to be very soft...

Awesome, thanks, that's pretty much sealed it. I'll order up some Thugs on Monday. :D

Yeah I've fondled the new Gotama myself and the rocker profile looks nice and subtle, meant to ride nice even on groomed from what someone told me. But definitely doesn't seem like it would be as playful flex-wise as Thugs.

One ski down, one to go. Long park skis is the next consideration...

i saw kye peterson sking the s7 in the park and was throwing huge 7 and i think i even saw a couple of 9 in there
i havent skied them but they sound amazing in pow to

you certainly won't regret it. you have my word haha! also, i just remembered scott p4s in a 191- you may be able to dig up a deal on them from previous seasons, no experience of them but they're supposed to be great also. 

i was about to point you in the direction of my park ski thread and then i noticed your post in said thread haha.

enjoy your thugs man. thanks for your help also, i guess i'm gonna wait and see what the ski shops of grenoble and neighbouring resorts have available but i'm thinking s4 or wall unless c7s turn up in shops near me.

Just because you didn't like bents doesn't mean you won't like other rockered skis.  Maby 189 LL1s(can't be that hard to find, half the rocker of LL2s).  Also, maby it was the softness that you didn't like with the handling.  LL2s are rockered but medium-stiff, and they will still turn on a dime.

I have heard that thugs ski dead and don't turn that well in pow.  I bet S7s would be a ton of fun, especially those 195s.  I was skiing with two people at whistler early season and one was on bents and one on S7s.  I asked if the S7s ride switch and he said yes, but they don't turn as easily switch as Bents do.

incorrect. you can make any kind of turn you want in pow on thugs, from warp speed super g turns to getting sideways and slashing. i ride prophet 100s mostly for pow (which i love btw) but they don't really let you scrub speed very easily or slash because of their generous sidecut and camber you're locked into a turn a little more.

i switched to my brothers thugs a few times and immediately it's like a whole different experience. skiing pow was even more fun: their 40+m sidecut, softer smooth flex and mellow camber allows you do do whatver turn you please at whatever speed takes your fancy.

thugs kill it. i like the versatility of my p100s but there's no doubt that thugs are more fun in pow.
