What boots? ++++k

hey ns, ive got it narrowed down the either the full tilt booters 09, or the 09 salomon spk kreation. i would use it mostly for park skiing, and a little backcountry. Just looking for a little first hand reviews or any recomendations thanks.

personally i would go with the salomon because its such a comfortable and flexible boot. they are also really warm and are good both in the park and the backcountry. i have never tried out full tilts but thats my opinion on salomon

why sigh? ive tried on the salomons and they seem pretty comfy, i just want to know if after a week of use if there going to fall apart. I live in an area where freestyle skiing isnt very big so no one sells full tilts.

Read the sticky on buying ski boots.

Basically I don't know what your feet are like so I don't know if your feet are going to fit full tilts. Don't buy any boot without trying it on and getting it properly fitted first.

If they don't sell full tilts where you are, either drive to somewhere that does to try them on, or don't buy them at all.

the last on full tilts is 98mm, on the salomons it is 106mm, thats a big difference. Some of the FTs have an extra 2mm of width in the toe to give you a bit more room. The SPK come up very high on you legs, especially when compared to FTs. Also the FTs have THE sweetest flex pattern of any boot that is out on the market now. At least in my opinion they do.

That's exactly it. It's your opinion. I'm not disrespecting it, I just think this kid needs to try on boots before buying them just because they are SPKs or Full Tilts.

I can't comment on Full Tilts,

but I ride SPK Kaos. The kreation, as I understand it, is a lighter more jibby version. Also cheaper. The SPK range have a very wide toe box, which is great for hard landings. They are canted quite far back to suit switch skiing, and they are very good for skiing switch. Some people have commented that this impairs their back country use. However I have had no problems. The SPK has an internal lace which is really good and the big velcro strap holds the front of the boot down nicely to prevent shin bang. Off the top of my head I don't know the flex for kreation, from what I remember the Kaos is 95 and I have a feeling the kreation is the same. Possibly less though as it is more of a park boot.

However, as I said it is still really important you try before you buy. everyones feet are different, just because one person raves about SPKs or Full Tilts does not mean they are going to suit you too. Also remember that you hardly see your ski boot when you are wearing them on the slopes because they will be covered by your pants and binders. So don't buy based on looks either.

I have given the best advice I can. If you still go and buy boots without trying them on then it's your funeral!

I wish i could give you more than 10/10.  I love NSers that tell kids to stray away from internet boot buying before they try them on.  Good work man!

Some people have broken the cables on the FTs, easy fix, and is usually covered under warranty. The FTs off a wider range of adjustability, as you can change the tongues to give you a stiffer or softer flex. The flex on the kreations is around a 80 iirc.

Also to the guy above that commented on the canting on the SPKs, in my opinion the forward lean is to upright. You can not adjust the canting on a boot out of the box, the bottom of the boot must be shaved and have the cants secured to the bottom of the boots, or you can have shims placed under the bindings. It is common for people to mix up the differences between canting and forward lean adj.

Good idea! Also the FTs have an intuition liner that can be heat molded and will offer a custom fit, which is much better than the liner that is in any SPK model.

thanks so much, turns out the place i was going to get my skis and bindings from has there store only 40 miles away, with both boots. wish i could give you more than 10/10 karma.

I don't mean to hate on anybody in the thread, but i think the reason that people buy boots online is because they don't have stores near them that carry the boots they want. Which also means they can't try them on. I been looking at spk's for a it, but i'll never get to try them on cause no shops near me carry them.

yeah, i just came across a site that let you purchase 2 boots and a return label so you could try on 2 different boots and send back the ones you dont like for a full refund. but the label costs 10 bucks.

Als ski barn? If so they are legit as it gets. Always keep in mind that boots will get bigger as they pack out. Be sure to perform a shell fit if you go this route.

ive tried them both and i liked the full tilts better. the salomons run to high up on the leg, and the FTs fit me better. plus the FTs are lighter and with 3 buckles instead of two
