So I was talking to the CSU ski team captains about sponsoring the premiere and making it a fundraiser for the ski team, but it turned out the school clubs can't sponsor any type of "movie" even as a fundraiser. And since the premiere kit is about $200 and room rental to show the movie is another $200, I would have to come up with that on my own to make it happen. So as of now it's not happening. I'm going to see if any local shops will sponsor the event, but it's not looking good. Any ideas for $ to make it happen would be appreciated. Sorry for hyping people up about it, but I thought the school clubs would help, and it didn't come through.
I looked into it last year... The freeride team now is all snowboarders so most of the competitions that were lined up didn't allow skiiers. Im not sure about this year though. It'd be cool to start something up though, or at least get some people together to make an edit or shred some rails around town!
they def allow skiers, both rail jams last year had skiers.
speaking of the rail jams, did anybody else think the girls categories were bullshit? there were only 3 girls, so they all automatically won, and they all fucking sucked. they shoulda just given the prizes to the bro skiers and boarders who were actually good.
The first rail jam was by Snoriders and the second was the Campus Cricket Tour. The freeride team is separate. I mean, skiiers can join it but it is pointless because dues are pricey and the coach is a snowboarder. It's basically just a really expensive tshirt.
And it's not the girl's faults that the sport is a sausage fest. Guy skiiers got bigger prizes anyway. It's hard to compare girls riding to guys because they are on entirely different skill levels. But I gotta say, I was kinda pissed that the event coordinators wouldn't let me enter because they said all the spots were full when there was not a single girl skiier at either jam!
fuck the ski team, make it a fundraiser for the Snowriders or even the Outdoor Club. The Outdoor Club guys are really chill. Not sure yet about Snowriders but I'm workign with them to promote the TGR premiere at the Aggie next week so we'll see about them too, they seem chill though. I can talk to either club to see what they say if you want. I'm sure both clubs would be stoked on the idea and would be willing to help figure it out. Let me know. I really want to put on some other premiers too so we should figure this out.
aaaahhh, i need to get better at park skiing. but yeah, this weekend sounds good. After being here for a month and a half you'd think I'd know more people here. That's what I get for living off campus for my first year here I guess. I'm goin to rocky mountain national park on sunday to ski St Andrews Glacier so I not sure how hard I'm partying on saturday night but I'll have a bunch of friends from denver so most likely i'll be partying haha.
I also have an extra free ticket to the TGR premiere if anyone wants to fight over it :)
