so i'm in a bit of a dilemma, i need to pick what bindings to put on my 191 on3p great scotts and its between salomon s916s and tyrolia freeflex 17, both are race binings, both are very durable. im 6'2" 160 lbs(give or take a few), expert skier, and will be using these skis to fill the charging section of my quiver. din will be at 14 or 15. now the reason im having this issue is the s916s will cost me any where from $130 to $250 while i already have the tyrolias on a pair of race skis. the breaks might be an issue on the tyrolias, but if the 916s can be bent that wide why not them? or are the break mounts the same on the race bindings as the freeride ones so i could just buy some 130mm breaks. thoughts?

I think the question should be do you want to spend money on a new pair or use your old bindings. Both will work ones cheaper.

I think you might have a bit of trouble with the brakes for the Tyrolias. 130 is pretty big bend for think brakes and as far as I know, they don't make a wide brake for that model.

the brake housing for all the 916 labs and the sth 16 is the same, you can just buy the right brakes for them. i have seen a few pairs of 916's go super cheap on ebay. there are some right now with a buy it now for 150 too.

You can pretty easily modify brakes that fit the s912/s914 to fit the s916s. Just requires some creative thinking and needle nose pliers to remove some of the plastic. 1/2 my s916s have sally brakes from consumer bindings.

with the weight, i think it's gonna be only give, not take, based on your current lifestyle

anyone who cares about binding weight is full of shit. with the exception of racer, but chances are they are using the heaviest stuff anyway. I would say go with the 916 if you can find em. Its one of two of the only bindings ill ride now adays. fks being the other.

agreed. The only time I care about the weight of my bindings/ skis is if I have to carry them a long way from my car to the lodge
All times are Eastern (-5)
