You got your basics good, but:

it sounds too much like it's made with presets.

Get down and dirty with mastering/EQing and FX(distortion/delay/reverb/panning) to add your own flavor to the sound and make it more interesting.

Try to create your own sounds, I don't know which DAW you're using, but look up tutorials on the web on how to create your own sounds from scratch.

There are LOADS of tutorials on Youtube.

A few tips on drums:

Sample drum breaks
Stack your drums (example: your snare will consist of a layer of 2 snares + 1 clap, etc.)
EQ them
Distortion
Lil' reverb
Whatever sounds good! Try it.


And yeah keep listening to a LOT of music

thanks man i'l definitely look into that. i use logic studio btw. all the sounds are software sounds that i just played around with the different settings and effects to tweak them. except for the drums with i sampled.
