LOOKS LIKE MY FIRST THREAD GOT DELETED SOMEHOW. SO IM GONNA REDO IT CUZ I DONT THINK ITS OFFENSIVE OR SUCKS .
TODAY, In a quest to ski as many months as possible, I ended up skiing at SNOWBIRD. I left AltA on my bike with my skis boots poles, and some warm clothes on my back. I biked to snowbird then up gad valley.
I biked all of the way to the top of gad 2 which is about 2000 vertical feet from the base. I dropped the bike and headed up into baldy bowl which sits above gad 2 under the west twin and redstack peak.
Scrambling through baldy bowl was ok, the rocks were all tipsy. No sign of snow yet. most likely it melted since the last time i saw it because its the first day of fall.
OHHH THERE IT IS. HAHAHAHAHAHA
Wishing I had my crampons on the 40 degree ice patch littered with rocks, I pushed to where snow met all rocks. How fun to be setting a booter right now, even if its scary as fuck. I was able to link a few turns and some how hit minimal rocks.
Skied that patch then traversed over the loose rock in ski boots, (luckily touring boots) to the other patch.
This patch was much more fun to ski than the other one.
Made exactly 50 turns on the two patches
I shoe'd up and hiked back over to the top of Gad 2 got on my bike and biked the 2000 vertical back to the base of the bird, then since i biked from my house to snowbird I had to bike back up LCC 2 miles and about 1000 vertical. Bringing my round trip to 3800 vertical feet UP 3800 vertical feet DOWN in about 12 miles and 4.5 hours. I was hurtin for certain. But is skied the first day of fall, my 37th month, without using a drop of gasoline.
