Knee bindings

i just saw in a ski magazine gear guide the "knee bindings" the claim to reduce acl injuries and all related binding problems. just seems weird how i'd never heard about it before now.

Is the technology just a turntable binding? I find that my Amplid DZNs release perfectly well under rotational forces, and only cost $150.

The question is though, how do they perform when landing jumps/pipe. As someone who has torn an acl, I am always looking for better bindings. However, pre-releases can be just as dangerous as not releasing at all.

No matter what, there needs to be a more thorough and non biased way to compare different binding technologies because right now, all you have is each manufacturer saying that of course their own product is the safest and best.

I saw them in person, 100% plastic basically.  I picked them up, very light, and it is made out of what feels like the shittiest plastic in the world.  The heels only release to one side (there is a left and a right binding) which I think it stupid, why not just make it release both ways.  Definitely not a binding for park use.  I was not impressed by it at all.

does anybody remember the line reactors? they did the same exact thing in 05. he heel released the exact same way

its was a good effort by line but the quality wasnt there apparently.

here is lines description,

This binding is nothing like the reactor.  the reactor was a very complex binding.  It had a separate heel spring and a spring in the base that was for the pivoting of both the toe and heel.  the knee binding only has lateral release in the heel, and only to one side.  It does not have a plate.  The FKS, p series/pivots, and older mojo 15's all had/ have lateral release.  They all worked slightly differently. 

I had the reactor 10 on my 1260's.  It was an awesome looking binding.  My would not stay on my feet.  This could have been due to the fact that i adjusted them myself when I got new boots, but I know I did it correctly.  It may have been/ know it was from adjusting the binding so it would fit both my boots and my friends boots haha.  I set them in between ours so that we would switch off on skis.  I remember clipping into my friends 133 chronic minis with mojo11's or something and my boots was a good inch longer and I still got them in haha.  I wish I still had my reactors though.  Line should retry the binding deal, I'm sure they could figure something cool out again.  Especially with quickmount.

There are some bindings with "quickmount" type things.  marker(I don't like them, but the Royal family isn't 1000% shit like the older ones) and K2 have those snowboard type mounting holes, so you could probably have one pair of bindings for all the skis with that.  On TGR, there's "DynaDuke" which allows you to put both Dynafits and Dukes on the same ski(swapping one out for the other), but I would guess that with that plate on all your skis you could put Dukes on all your skis(which wouldn't be popular here since Dukes aren't the best in park(I didn't like the stand height, otherwise they're like jesters..which I didn't like the feel of).  Give it a few years, Salomon or Tyrolia might think of something...but then they do lose a ton of money that people spend on all there bindings!

Well i didn't mean bring the reactor back because that was a flunk of a product.  But the quickmount was the best part.  I want it for not tele/ touring bindings.  The schizo system and the free system by rossi are the closest it has come.  If all binding manufactures made a universal mount pattern, it could happen but that would be very difficult to do, considering the many different designs of bindings.

OK.  I'm glad I got some response but none of you have actually answered the question.  You cannot judge the binding by looking at it, picking it up, or saying it's the same as the reactor because it is based in the same principle.  I've seen test videos on youtube of some "former European racers" use it but they might be getting paid to say that the binding works well.  So if anyone has actually skied on these and wants to give a review the would be greatly appreciated by me, a person who has torn their ACL/MCL twice.  Thanks
