Help with getting Computer volume back

I have a macbook (just the white one not a pro or anything) and i had speakers plugged into it for a while and now when the speakers are not plugged in there is a red light and when i click the volume button it has one of those circles with a line through it, does anyone know how to fix this? I search barred and couldn't find anything, karma for help

Oh yeah and when i go to settings and output, it does not recognize the internal speakers

Okay i got it, if anyone else has this problem all you have to do is stick a pair of headphones in and wiggle it around then take it out and if the light goes on again just keep trying, i think a sensor gets bent sometimes so you need to just bend it back into place.

happened to my dell a few days ago. took out my headphones too quickly and after trying everything i put them back in to see if the volume was still there in them. took them out and tada! volume worked again

Yeah the sensor in your headphone jack isn't working good, so it's down to a matter of basically letter your headphone cord have sex with the headphone jack until it works
