Best ski resort in america ?

I'm planning a trip to the states to go skiing, and I need help picking a mountain .. I'm looking to ski powder, lots of powder .. And preferably a place that's not too crowded. Any suggestions ?

I've made several trips to the USA flying in from Switzerland. I've skied in: A-Basin, Loveland, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Vail, Aspen & Snowmass, Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, Park City, Snowbasin and Powder Mountain.

Based on this I would highly recommend SLC area. My favorite resort in the USA is Snowbird. Alta/Snowbird would be a great choice, then you can also go night skiing in Brighton.

I would recommend against Vail and Aspen/Snowmass. They are very lame.

Yeah if your from europe its cheap as fuck? Not really you gotta pay a massive air fare to go and fucks up the environment when theres so much sick shit on your own doorstop.

Allthough going to SLC would be cool doing it on a budget youd be better of skiing europe. The euro is good against the dollar yeah but not quite what it used to be whereas I have pounds sterling and I am hating this recession so much, the states and Canada used to be so cheap like 2 to the pound it was heaven now its probably more expensive in Canada with taxes FML

I'm from eastern Canada. I have already skied the canadian rockies on a couple of occasions, and my favorite was by far Kicking Horse.. And Fernie was also amazing .. So something like that would be aweosme. I checked out alta/snowbird and it looks really good, well the whole SLC area looks awesome. I will be going late january, most probably. I'll try to go a time that its really quiet, so I can avoid the big crowds.

if youre looking for powder, silverton is amazing. its backcountry skiing with a chairlift pretty much.

Well, I think it's always worth traveling somewhere unfamiliar to go skiing, that's part of the fun of traveling.

I tend to like the unknown stuff, heck, I was on African snow a few months ago.

Also, the airfare is not massive, I was paying around 400-ish Euro a couple years ago to fly to Utah. And with the airlines slashing prices all over the map, it's likely to be an excellent bargain this winter.
