i know neither of them are meant for it, but if i am going to be skiing powder switch and forwards, and building jumps and landing in powder both forward and switch for 3 weeks to a month, should i take my line afterbangs or my line chronics? i dont want to pack in with both or buy a new pair of skis for this.
i rode chronics in pow last season and didnt find them the easiest ski in pow since theyre stiff, but im not really great at powder cause i dont see much of it. afterbangs seem like a safe option if your rocking it both ways though, slightly softer than the chronic so should aid leaning back for float etc.
Chronics OR bolt each ski together side by side and mount inbetween making a super hybrid fat ski set up that you can rip the whole mountain and slide any rails you encounter in the backcountry, the waist widths would be like 195mm and you'd have 8 edges instead of 4, so that should float good
chronics butter just fine. and usually a more all mountain ski will preform better in powder then a noodly rail ski, but that is just my logic on this one...
I would say the chronics from the logic of the ski being a all mountain ski. but if i were you your trip would be much more enjoyable if you just bought a pair of specific pow skis. in the end i think you'll probably regret not buying pow skis.
