How fun is longboarding?

Just wondering, Cause im thinking about getting one. Are they expensive? Where should I get them? and...is it that dangerous?

they dont run too pricey. just over the cost of a skate set up. make sure that you are comfortable skate boarding or something because its super dangerous when you get speed.

It's definitely worth it. My girlfriend got me one for my birthday a while ago and it was SUCH a good gift. It's like surfing/snowboarding on pavement. It's a fantastic feeling. Get one.

Since I started speedboaring, it's all I can think about. The amount to which it has consumed me is a little startling because it's starting to encroach on my love of skiing.

I have a Kracked Skulls. So much better than Sector 9 or any other brand in my opinion. He makes all of them out of his garage I think? But anyway, they are a SMOOTH ride. Kracked Skulls for sure.

its realllly fun. especially a freshly paved hill. they're not that expensive and they last a whilllle so it's definitely worth the money

Get one. I just recently got into it and it has quickly became one of my favorite things to do. They are expensive for the start up but its worth it, just like a new pair of sks.

its sooo much fucking fun. imagine skiing, if you never had to pay for a lift ticket, and the mountain was every paved road. as for cost, well, a decent setup from kracked skulls will only run you about 100-150, and will last a long time. PLUS if you type mongoose for the code when you order you get %5 off. DEAL!

Certainly not better than any other board, but certainly better than Sector 9.   KS really is the way to go for your first board.  Its the best value you can get, the deck is cheap and looks cheap and feels cheap, but its flexible and fun and doesn't break, and you get really good hardware, which is the most important part anyway.  Its really only great for riding the boardwalk, but it is good at everything, and since your starting, you don't know what you want to do yet, so thats good. I've taken mine through a steep corner at 30mph with no problems.

Also longboarding is ridiculously dangerous, but only if you do downhill.  Downhill longboarding is the only sport I wear a helmet for.

Oh but if you ONLY want to do carving/riding around town/cruising, you should for sure get an Original.  Its not a good board to learn on honestly but it won't be that bad and once you get the hang of it it just kills everything else, completely amazing, totally unlike a regular skateboard. You would never want to downhill on it though, I won't take mine over 20mph.  It is only a 28" though.

it's super fun man. but once you get speed you better be able to run fast or have skin of steel. carving is an amzing feel. dont get sector 9. Arbor is a great brand.

Its a blast. Its only as dangerous as you make it, whether you are flatland cruisin, or caving some moderate hills, to bombing roads through traffic.

I literally went from 70% downhill to like 5% downhill as soon as it got to my door and I haven't done any downhill in months now I just try to find long ass runs that'll keep me at 20mph consistently.  I'm completely addicted.

haha, awesome. ya i don't get the hate on sector 9 sure they may be played, and if you don't like that then don't get one, i mean they make some boards that are hella gay, and it's not even that the decks themselves are bad, it's more like the aren't hardcore, they're made to appeal to a wider audience (market) than just bombers or carvers. but they also make some sick decks. idk, i'm just sayin.

They make one sick deck and its the Bomb Hills Not Countries deck and all of their decks are mostly heavy and lifeless.  But mostly they just come with shitty trucks.

it is fun as hell, kind of expensive, and a whole lot of dangerous if you don't have the protective gear (which i dont, because i can't afford it). luckily the worst thing longboarding injury i've had was just scraping my shoulder down to the bone, but that healed eventually and now i have a nice and disgusting scar there (it really is disgusting, it's all wrinkly and shit).

Longboarding is super dangerous, but super fun. WEAR A HELMET. Nobody wants to have a friend/themselves be the one wishing they were wearing one. Seriously, anything your doing with speed is fast enough to seriously injure yourself.

yeah, no hate, i learned on a sector 9 bomb hills, which was a great board to learn on and got me hooked, but now i've kinda gotten into it more and appreciate other stuff. its like the difference between all mountain skis and big mtn skis
