Where to Volunteer?

I've been thinking about volunteering for a while and now I have a little extra motivation from the court system (calm down, all I did was run a red).

Anyways, do any of you volunteer? Where? Do you like it or hate it?

I was thinking about Big Brothers Big Sisters bc I think kids are cool, but idk that seems like a big commitment and I would feel terrible if I got attached to the kid and then had to move away or something...

i gotta do 60 hours to graduate, ive been volunteering at golfcourses because the jobs are easy as fuck, adn i enjoy golf and talking to people. try to go to a place youll enjoy, if you like soccer see if you can ref kids games or something, try and be creative  with it

i had to do this in high school too

the food bank is THE MOST FUN PLACE TO VOLUNTEER, EVER...

seriously, you wouldnt think of it, but we had to go there once, and every time since then i would sign up for the food bank whenever we had to do community service. mostly we spent every day putting together these food boxes for families with like 40 different kinds of food in them. like 20 of us would help, and the boxes would roll down a conveyor belt in the middle of the aisle and each of us was responsible for a couple types of food going into the box. we usually had to put together like 3000 boxes, and it got rowdy as hell every time, especially if a few of your friends were there. the boxes would always come too fast for everyone to get everything in on the first try, so people were shooting 3-pointers with boxes of mac n cheese and beef boullion from like 30 feet out...food was flying all over the place, but somehow it worked, soooooo much fun.

Volunteer with kids man, I taught 6th graders basic econ for a semester, it was honestly one of the most rewarding things ive done, plus they love it when you are there, b/c you are the cool kid teaching them, not their teacher.

soup kitchens are fun, or in the winter coach special olympics downhill, the kids are really cool

I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for a few weekends, and it was amazing. To see the face of the family once we were done was the most rewarding thing ever.

I coached special olympics ski racing to fufill a 65 hr service requirement for my highschool and I ended up doing like 100. It was pretty fun and it looks really good on transcripts, resumes, etc...

My parents made me volunteer this summer so I went to a summer camp. Kids are the shit, you can have so much fun beating them at sports and stuff.

in all seriousness, dealing with special ed kids is amazing if you have the patience. i taught swim lessons to sped kids for a while and honestly its amazing. you definitely have to be patient for it though.

yea my mom was pediatric occupational therapist and I went to work with her a couple times when I was a teenager.

Working with kids sounds fun but idk know if I can do it. This is going to make me sound like a huge woman, but its the internet so who cares, I seriously hate saying goodbye to people, it makes me like physically and mentally sick. I have no idea what the hell is wrong with me but it just fucks with me so much that I don't if it would be worth it
