[/URL] Its a 98 legacy GT, with a 2.2 engine in it. I've been told it would be cool and relativly do-able to put a turbo in it somehow, but I'm skeptical, so i cam to the best place I know of to ask for car help. What do you guys think?

It depends, how many miles are on it? sometimes if you turbo an older car with a ton of miles it can get a little sketchy reliability wise.

Wouldnt be worth it. You could do it but youd only be able to run like 5psi with all the stock parts in it. Anything more than that an stuff would start to come loose an bad things would happen.

its got 114000 miles on it. keep in mind it has the 2.2 engine, not the 2.5.

2.2 and performance dont really go hand in hand. My truck has a 2.2L and it sucks ass power wise. With the cost of a turbo youd be able to upgrade to a more reliable and more powerful subaru engine.

OR if you want real balls and torque throw a Chevy V8 in that bitch.

Legacy GT Model Years 2005 + are turbocharged.

Honestly, if you have a Naturally Aspirated Subaru like that and want to turbo it, it will be much easier and much more cost effective to do a complete engine swap. Many people opt to use the 2.5 liter engine for it's increased low end torque and tuning possibilites.

As mentioned above, NASIOC has a whole lot of information worth checking out.

Honestly, if you wanted to put a forced induction on it it would be better to just do a complete powertrain swap than to get all of the supporting mods for a turbo. A lot of people suffer under the misconception that you can just throw a turbo on an engine and call it good. I'm sure you'd be able to run a decent amount of boost on stock internals (I'm guessing 8-12 psi), but you would at the very least need to lower the compression ratio get a better fuel delivery system (mainly a pump), not to mention all of the other supporting mods for the turbo (i.e. intercooler, wastegate, bov). If you are serious about doing this, pm me and I can get you into contact with some people that have done turbo installations so they can give you some pointers.

i have a 97 legacy gt 2.5 and i looked into it and its really not worth it to do it. there has to be alot of aftermarket changes to do to it so i wouldnt blow up.
