Spilled Beer on Macbook Pro

Ridiculous

I spilled beer all over my macbook and it works fine, but some of the keys on the keyboard no longer work. I had insurance so im getting 1250 in the mail but im not sure whether I should sell it and get a new computer or repair it, any thoughts on this?

still haven't gotten if back. pissed.

heres what you do. go get the keyboard replaced. at some second hand shop for cheep. then go sell said macbook and now you have the money for a macbook pro and some to spend.

win win

you are lucky, one of my good friends had a party where someone moped up some beer with a towel and then put the towel on his new macbook pro. it fried his logic board, and told him they couldnt do anything for him unless he spent 1200 on a new board...

ya my parents got me renters insurance so it covers pretty much everything that I break or if something gets stolen. I really recommend it, cause I would be freaking out right now if I didnt have it.

my sister spilt energy on her laptop, bought a new one and gave the non working one to me.

well once it dried out it started working. now its mine. keys are sticky but that doesnt bother me.

What you can do though is take off your keyboard. its pretty easy. ifixit.com has how tos to do it.

And once you have the keyboard off rinse it under a faucet real good. and then take some distilled water and rinse it with that. then let it dry for a couple days. maybe put it in front of a fan, and once its all dried put it back on. keys wont be sticky and will probably work.

They probably dont work because there is residue(beer) between the contact points.
