here is the latest. just received this in an email a couple minutes ago..
You think you're anxious for snow? Nobody is more ready than Don McKay, General Manager of Tyrol Basin. Having already been open a few weeks by this time last year, to say Don is ready to make snow is an understatement. There have been two occasions of snowmaking in the last few weeks and although the weather has not been cooperative for further attempts, the snowmakers have proven that they are ready to go at a moment's notice.
Here are some of Don's guidelines for making snow, so you can be "ready" too. The temperature at Tyrol Basin has to be approximately 28 degrees or below; 25 to 29 degrees is marginal to produce adequate conditions. Several nights of these temps are necessary to make enough snow for you to come and enjoy yourself. Precipitation, humidity, and clear or cloudy skies are factors that have to be considered also.
Temperatures are expected to drop later this week and Don hopes to take advantage of the conditions and make enough snow for a hiking park to be open this weekend. An announcement will be made via text message, so if you haven't already, sign up to receive notification by texting TYROL to 95495.
