In the midst of mass famine in the 60's this agricultural scientist and plant breeder named Norman Borlaug created a strain of wheat that yielded many more tons per acre than previous varieties, it was soon to grow in fields all over the word and the grain output rocketed upwards. His work has saved hundreds of millions of people over the past 40 years leading him to be called the man who saved a billion people. He died on the 12th. I didn't hear of word of it, or read a word till I browsed slashdot.com. Bullshit I tell you. Micheal Jacksons death is still getting coverage and one of the most important scientist of the last century has died at age 95 and hardly a tribute is held. Our society is fucked beyond repair.
