Concerning the treatment of female NSers

Alright guys, serious moment here.

Over the last few days, there has been a spike in rather sexist remarks. I've been getting complaints, and I'm rather pissed off myself at the level of maturity my fellow skiers are demonstrating.

We often wonder why more girls dont get involved in freestyle skiing and its community. Why a girl with twin tips is such a rarity. Based on what I've seen recently, why would a girl want to be a part of this community? We complain that there arent enough freestlye skier babes, but then will reply to a girls post with "Get back to the kitchen LOL>"

Its not funny. Its pissing me and many of the established members off. If you cant control your 15 year old hormonal balance, take a break from NS for a while. If I or another mod see you demonstrate that you cannot, we will take the liberty of giving you that break.

yup. and i've got to point out that some of the women on this site say some sexist things as well from time to time (especially when they feel the need to retaliate), and most male members let them get away with it because of all the sexism that goes towards girls here too. i mean if we were to start banning everybody who's said something sexist on here lately, then there a couple of women here who would deserve the same punishment.
so if we are planning on punishing dudes for saying sexist things to chicks, let's not skip over some of the things the ladies are saying back. that's my view, anyways.

I'm not crying about it, unless it is a comment made to me because I am female. Like when the guy told me I wouldn't be able to get out of the half pipe. Maybe that was just him being a jerk, but it was totally uncalled for and I'm glad I didn't let it wreck my day. But I know many more females that are a lot more sensitive about that sort of thing. We are female. We are sensitive. We are generally not capable of being as good as guys at skiing.


For the record, I am not a feminist. Jokes like get back in the kitchen dont bother me. Cause I can make jokes about buying drinks and looking at my chest and such. I don't think women are as qualified for many of the things that men are, But men aren't as qualified for many of the things women do, of course there are over laps and extreme cases. This is why I said I disagreed why there were so few women in the ski community.

exactly.  a related sidestory:

I live in a town thats like 80% mexicans.  in my town, theres a shitty fast food place that im pretty sure is operated by a mexican (all the workers are mexican at least) that sells burgers and tacos called "Gringos."  no one in the town bats an eye.  I want to open a place right next to it and call it "Spics" just to see what hypocracy follows.

if theres going to be any sort of punishment here, it needs to be 100% equal or else NS will lose any integrity it has.

The only hate on girls I've seen at the mountain is the ones that fall getting off the lift. Other than that, everyone is stoked. But there's a ton of really good girl snowboarders up here too...

Some skiers are jerks and some are really nice is not a generalization.

most is a generalization, as most refers to more than 50%.  you dont know 50% of the male park skiers that exist.  what you should be saying is "In my experiences, many male skiers blah blah blah."

I clarified my "most" statement in my second/third/forth posting with my experiences and what I have seen, not directly towards me 99% of the time, but towards others.

Therefor my first statement was a generalization until I clarified, but the posting that was attacked was very specific to my experiences at Mt. High and in regards to many of the stories I have heard from friends when they were trying to learn.

i do see what you are saying here. however. i do not agree with you in a way. you sound like u get shuvved in the ass just becuase some guys mouth off and say rude things. some people do thet to me too.but if i fall on a jump and they yell at me to get out of the way. i would defff. tell them thet u have the same right as they do hitting the jump. falling is LEARNING. (if any of thet made any sence) but yeah dont let them get into ur head. when they say something rude, brush it aside, hit a diff jump, or even tell tehm off NICELY! the worst thing u could do is get in this huge arguement over NOTHING. dont be the rude one back. be higher then the negatives. i do, i really do know where ur coming from tho. im 14 years old, and i need to fall with out peeps hastlin me after wards.

the way i see it is dont let them bring you down. just keep moving through with ur progression and have fun with it. ignore those people who give u crap.

skiing should be fun. and others who do give crap to ladies, look at it the other way....if someone was giving u crap about being in the way and rushing them, how would you feel about it? after a while u would get fustrated and wont wanna be around people whan u ride or u wont wanna be seen trying ur best out there on the slopes. just keep in mind...treat others thet way you wanna be treated on the hill and off the hill.

Two things:

1. I took a 4-5 month break from NS and since I've come back, I see A LOT of 4chan references. Not that this is a bad thing, but it doesn't belong here. If you feel like being a chauvinist for the lulz, go to /b/.

2. To everyone that is arguing with that girl in this thread, stop giving her a reason to get to us. It's people like her that are provoking us into saying, "get back in teh kitchen lol" or "tits or gtfo." Try to ignore people like that and you won't need to worry about the ban cannon.

seeing people make derogatory comments towards women always makes me chuckle, not because i find what they say funny, but because its usually a projection of their own insecurities. i'm not threatened by women, nor do i fear them, so i have no reason to talk down to them or make sexist remarks.

Mt. high and then I get pressured a bit in Mammoth to hurry a long on the jumps. I'm sorry, the 30 foot jumps still freak me out a little bit and I'm getting used to it....

I think its just a lot of people reallly pissed off cause the lift lines are half an hour for a 3 minute run. That and well.... you need to see it to believe it. I'll see if I can find a photo of what one goes through in the park there.

Mammoth isn't as bad at all, people are just impatient and now and then you get the jerk that is just a jerk.

Rachy everyone has problems with being rushed along. go find some guy skiers that are stoked that your even attempting park skiing and ski with them. people will be less likely to try to move a crew of skiers along
