Dont you love cruising a hill on a longboard when your wheel falls off!
ok so, yesterday i was longboarding down this hill in my neighbourhood and i was going farely fast. i was learning pivots and crossovers and stuff. I iwas getting pretty good at it so i tried to do it with a bit more speed. I push for about 10 seconds straight, neal down getting ready to slide, and my wheel falls of. sicik! now im left in the middle of the street with a bloody arm ripped pants and three wheels on my longboard. best walk home ever.
A couple of summers ago I was bombing a hill on my skateboard and a wheel fell off fell going about 20mph and barely missed a car that was turning on to the hill. I still have a giant scar on my arm from it. And I never found the wheel that fell off.
I know how ya feel, one time coming back from class cruising down, towards the end of the ride so im only like 5-10 mph and im just riding along next thing i know i feel a very strong drag and i get booted of my board. I think, oh i hit a rock/stick and i look up and my wheel is gone and its rolling down the street lukckly stopping only about a block away. Shit scares you for a bit after.
My entire front truck fell off once. When I put risers on my board, the bolts were barely long enough for the nuts to attach, and over about a week all the nuts slowly worked themselves off. The last one finally came off when I dropped a curb riding around campus, and the road took a nice chunk out of my shoulder. The moral of the story is: glance at the hardware on your board occasionally to make sure nothing is missing.
I was bombing a pretty big hill one time, go for a slide, I see a wheel rolling, just thinking, "oh fuck I'm doomed." One crash later, realizing that I should check my longboard more often.
I was bombing this monster hill street luge style one day and snapped my fucking king pin. Using my elbows and hips as brakes, I finally came to a stop about 40 or 50 feet later. Good times. I feel your pain.
My buddy was being towed behind a car with a beer in one hand and his wheel hit a rock and exploded. He was pretty scraped up, but he was mostly sore about his brew being smashed.
