Today as I was trying on my new outwear I looked in the mirror a reoccuring thought came into my head. "Is this realle me?" I had on XL special blen pants, XL quicksilver jacket and a 4xl tyedye tall tee.
Now in previous seasons I have bitten in ot many a fad, no poles, tall tees, bandanas, rollerblade grinds, being ignant and other such things with various degrees of success. I would see pics or watch videos and something would feel out of place almost every time. It never really felt like me on there, like it was me doing everything but it never really looked like how I felt at the time, my personality was nowhere to be found.
So I looked again at the mirror, zipped my jacket all the way up, unzipped it, changed how my pants sagged, still wasnt right. I then took off the tall tee and everything changed. The lines on the jacket and pants looked better, everything felt cleaner. It looked like me.
Now this puzzled me, well all good skiers look good thugged out. Then I thought about it, Jons not thug and he has rediculous style. Thall isnt thug, lolo isnt thug, hell i could name alot of pros with really different styles...they all looked good, yet they were all different.
It really occured to me that there is no one mold that we all fit into. Every rider has a differnt personality and by extension riding style. The key to style is letting your personality shine through. I am a 5'6" 165 caucasian male from minnesota, im not thug, I like bigger clothes but there is a limit to how big it should be. Others look better thugged to death, my friend andreas would look silly in anything other than his hemp jacket and tight pants.
I wanted to share this revelation with all of you, there is no such thing as wrong style, but there is style that is wrong for you. You know who you are let it shine though.
have a good season
