Twin Tips? 1080 vs Trouble Maker

Hi, im looking into getting some twin tips. And I was looking into two different skis. The Salomon 1080's and the Dynastar Trouble Makers. I was wondering which one you would recommend and why or why not. Thanks.

get TM or Public Enemy. i have PE and theyre awesome my friend has TM he loves them and 1080 have a foam core....

all this foam core shit drives me nuts....1080's are solid skiis, pro racers who weigh 240lbs race on 'foam cores' and they don't look like noodles, anyway get whatever you want i won't comment on TM's cause I don't know anything about them unlike ppl who think they know what they are talking about^

those pro racers on foam cores get new skis every few races if not every race. that foam core only holds it flex for 30 days before it becomes even more of a noodle. pro skiers on salomon ride a 1080 with a wood core.

go for the troublemaker or even better a pair of lines

I would recommend the TM's. One because of the graphics. I mean seriously, fuck how the ski accutally skis!!! No, seriously, the TM is a great ski for many reasons. One, they are very badass on groomers and kickass in the park. Not sure about pow, but in the trees in VT they float right threw it. The deeper shit, couldn't tell yah. But the main reason I would get TM's is because it is a very forgiving ski. You will ride away from some very sketchy landings with this ski. Also, the recommending binding is the p10, i like to call it the knee saver binding. Over all, my only complaint is the top sheet scratches easly and the edges can be stronger, but overall, a great ski!!!

Ok I have another question. Ive been considering two different bindings, the Look pivot 12 jib's and the S912's. Which is the better binding and what would be better for the TM's?

the pivots are better, safer, never prerelease, and go better with TM's, they're same companyt really

to be accurate, no race-stock ski uses a foam core. they all use wood because wood is good. 1080s are light, but they have frail edges and the foam core breaks down. I know this beceause I rode on them. great ski but doesn't last. I currently ride the troublemakers. they're better, but I've beat the shit out of them and tore some edge out. TM's are better in my oppinion, but i guess all ski's break when your ride em hard.

at first after i bought the TMs and they started to die i was like, fucks these shitty boards BUT!!!! i love them now, my skis were getting fixed for about a week and a half and i skied on everything else and nothing came close, good on groomers and the eat up the slop

NO binding is gonna prevent you from blowing your ACL or twisting your knee, sh*t it does'nt matter what you are on you are still gonna fuk your knee up if you knee stays staitionary while the rest of your body is falling forward, thats how you blow your acl.

Fortskier: That may be, but you'll be doing yourself a good step i the right direction by getting good bindings. All bindings are NOT created equal, and in my opinion and the opinion of those I have talked to (both here and in person) Look/Rossi bindings are MUCH more equal than Sollis.

I don't mean to get off on a rant here but the troublemaker is the only park capable ski worthy of skiing the groom period. And its burly as all hell. To all you tools that try and defend 'foam cores' ask anyone who's asctually good on any hill and they'll straighten you out quicker than kristi leskenin on a cold day. I broke the new Line Eric Pollard pro model in 6 days of skiing to all you wannabe underground Line suckers while my dynastars i've skied since January 2003 (before their release) with p12 jibs not p10s unless ur like 12 and weigh a buck O five and 'ski' at boreal after your middle school gets out. As for the 1080 just look at Salomon, they're owned by adidas and they're still making absolute shit. It's a well known 'industry secret' that the difference between the 1080 you might buy off the shelf and the one candide rocks is greater than the difference between any other retail and pro-ridden twin tip ski end of story. The 175 cm Trouble Maker I ski on is the exact same one that Phil Dion and the rest of the FreeRide Frogs pimp all over the world. How do i know you ask? I've skied with him and he told me so. Then he stepped out of his binding and handed it to me to flex and what do you know it was the same ski as the one on my foot. If u get the trouble maker and you don't like it email me at skimasterflex@hotmail.com and i'll personally trade you for any twin tip you name. But that's just my opinion I could be wrong.

But, do they land softly from 30ft to fakie? Gonna try some fakie shit next year, because it's not healthy to ski pipe fakie with 720s.

Adam_Gray it depends on how good the lengths match your style and weight. How big/good are you? Either way with that 75/25 distribution definitely mount them centerline for best results. Troublemakers were only going to 175 cm which is plenty for 90% of us but they now have a 182cm if you really need it. Both skis have 10 cm intervals ie TM 155, 165, 175, then somehow 182 cuz 185'd be too big. PE's have the much craved 179 length in between the TM which my good friend can't be drug out of at the end of the day so up to you both excellent skis.

ive ridden lines,1080 foams,tm's,pe's,scratches,and ummm i think thats it but i SWEAR on the pe's...my friends are complaining about their edges getting dull and ripping up and mine are still great and i do way more rails than them

at the mo i havnt skiied for years, ill be buying some skis autumn this year before a i take a gap year :) spending a season skiing in france. ill be getting ALOT of lessons and practice before then and should get to a pretty good standard.

im 5'11 - 6' and weigh about 12 stone

Uhm, i've been skiing on 1080's for three years now, using ca. 2 of the newest models each season.

I really like them, and would recommend them to everyone, it's just bullshit that they get like 'noodels' after a little while. They are as good as every other tt ski, in my opinion, even better.

But, i think the us model may be different from the eu model. I've broken two pair of the newest 1080's in half, they both had a wood core in the center, and them som foam. Like lying in layers.
My skis are from europe. But what i thought was that the skis from us are made another place or something and they have skipped the wood core to make them cheaper og somethin. Just a theory, but my skis are definintly not just foam inside.
