Copper or Beaver?

I need some help

So my family and I are going to CO over christmas vacation.
We found a timeshare thats really nice, but its all the way in Beaver and out of the way of all the other mountains. Beaver looks like it has some cool terrain and i searched on NS and found some good things

Then there is copper. Its closer to denver, more centralized. I could ski other mountains too. Also, it has the whole upper and back area that looks like open chutes. Just pure pow runs (thats what it looks like, someone confirm this?)

I wanna ski BC. i wanna ski some west coast pow, im sick of these east coast groomers, i need pow and adventure

help me choose NS!

If you're looking for powder, go to Vail or BC, or just not go to summit county at all. I guarantee you there will be more pow in Western Colorado and Utah.

And don't go to Copper, I like it not crowded haha. I'm kidding, but really..

well lets see. beaver has a so so park. so big jumps. at least last year. and there is also grouse mountain which has some pretty good glades. the only problem about beaver creek is you are kinda far away from places other then vail. copper on the other hand has a pretty decent park. some steeper stuff for you to ski when it snows. copper isnt some much as centrailized time wise as you might be thinking like its still anywhere from 15-30 min away from keystone breck and abasin. and like 20 min away from vail.
but you can make the decision on where you wanna go yourself.
if you really wanna ski backcountry stuff and dont wanna leave co. you could make a treck over to silverton.

i skied over 80 days at copper a a couple years ago, and seriously i was never challenged, except for the park because they have some bigger jumps. But the rest of the mountain is so bland and flat. Theres nothing there to ski that will make you go holy shit or really get you scared, unless you texas tuck a groomer under the super bee. Cliffs are nonexsitent or 15ft at the most, you can ski mogul runs that will make your legs fall off over by alpine lift, but who wants to do that? That whole "back bowl" area is open to two lifts and snowcat skiing. the two lifts have super mellow ungroomed stuff. yawn. and those chutes you see are open to snowcat skiing, which is free, but theres still a hike. But its rarely open and when it is, it gets tracked out fast, or bombed to shit by the partollers. it really isn't good snow at all. Sure some of the mountain is fun on a pow day, but so are everyother place in CO. But copper has to have the most "flat" terrain of any area. Its a fun place, but if your looking for pow, go to vail. Vail and the Beave are real close together, but vail is so fucking huge youll shit yourself. There is so much pow to be skied on a pow day, it just goes on and on and on. The beav is the same way, although i haven't skied there much, i here from the guys who go there that its got somem pretty gnarly stuff, though kinda hard to find. you wont be dissapointed with the beave or vail for pow. copper unfourtunately is sorta a family ski schoolish type place. the park is fun but breck/keystones are far better.

And BC has some hot ladies kicking it by the fireplace at the resort at night if ur in high school and u must be in high school if ur going on vacation w/rents. So have fun hitting that. and if ur in college there is always Beaver Liquors need we say more

ive never skied copper. but if you stay in beaver and go to vail, you will shit your pants with excitement standing atop the back bowls. you wont know where to start.

Vail fucking sucks with the exception of the park. I will say this till the day I die(gapers, prices, no steeps..ect...), yeah they get lots of snow, but so does BC. NOT to mention BC has the stone creek chutes and if you are a good skier there is nothing at any summit county inbounds place that compares excpetion "lake chutes" in steepness. Stone creek chutes made me ski BC more days on my pass than any other place. And as someone who isnt that good in the park there "medium" park was a lot better than keystones medium park JUMPS. BC's big jumps have big lips and aren't those that shoot you out but rather up. Listen if you wanna ski powder and can handle some steeps and love cliffs and untracked stuff go to BC and a decent to good park go to BC. IF you want tracked out wind blown high alpine crust that is summit county go to Copper, but they have a better park.

NOTE:BC is all bellow tree line which makes shit da bomb for no crust

Note if you are wanting to die hard BC Vail East chutes (or close to) guided trips can be found I think?

Beaver Creek is def the way to go.  Their park has gotten a lot better and isn't quite copper but it's getting close.  Several parks top to bottom, huge pipe, tons of rails and everything from 5ft jumps to 65ft+ booters. The terrain blows copper away.  Beave is less crowded than the other mountains and has siiick powder.  I agree with the comment about vail's back bowls, if you get out there early and head towards blue sky basin it will feel like you're in the back country.  Open powder fields as far as the eye can see, it's massive.  I still recommend Beaver Creek though because less people, and although it doesn't have a lot of huge open bowls like vail the tree runs are ridiculous.  Lots of fun cliffs, very advanced terrain titty-deep pow.  If you really want to spend a day at copper/keystone/breck/abasin it's less than an hour away from beaver creek so copper doesn't put you that much closer

Summary - Go to the Beave, it has EVERYTHING

beaver is actually pretty sick its park is awesomeforget the guy who said it was so so.  They have a shit load of unique rails and the jumps are huge. plus they have a top to bottom park easy->medium->big features. it also has some really sick pow/cliff runs that aren't out of bound. and then you have vail, the park there is pretty bad, but there is so much terrain there. but i mean i would go to copper if you could ski breck keystone etc. but only for that reason.

ok, my 2 cents. I live in boulder and ski all of summit county quite a bit. here is my opinion COPPER: has some good stuff, but if the t-bar or the cat aren't running it will suck, the town is nice, not too big VAIL: is awesome if you know your way around or are with someone who does. if you don't know where and when to go you'll end up in big lines and on big catwalks. I've grown to hate the people and the town, bunch or rich bitches, BEAVER: i have the least days at bc, but i've heard good things, lots of rich people not too much to say here

^this, the rails are awesome.  I thought we were comparing copper's park to bc's in that case, bc's park next to breck and keys was the best I rode.  I love there medium park jumps perfect for 5's 3's.  Maybe its because I'm drunk and I miss the stc and bc adn they are awesome but for real go BC U will love it.

I say Beaver Creek sucks, but Copper sucks more so... (in my opinion)

I would just rather go to Vail, Aspen or Keystone/Breck.

How can you say that????    Perhaps the worst part of Vail is the park!  you obviously have no idea what your talking about.

I would go to Beaver Creek over Copper.   But copper's park is pretty cool......but Beaver Creek is decent and has some good jumps....but you said you wanna ski BC....soooo i dunno i think the Beave sounds like the best place for your vacation.

I Hate Vail too.....   yeah it is sick huge, but i've just never turned up there and felt like it was gonna be a good day - the vibe at the hill is all wrong, it's not like rocking up at keystone where everyone is super cool....   Vail is the Gaper capital of the world and has far too much attitude.

The bowls are fun, nothing more.....   people bang on about them like it's alaska...  That said, Blue Sky Basin is a world of fun, and i would simply spend my days there lapping..... although it get's helluva busy on pow days....   I also always find Vail warm....   it's lower then the other hills in Summit.

The Beave on the other hand - is the SHIT! Best tree skiing in the area by far - almost has a Japan feel too it with glades.....      The Beave is awesome.

I would just drive to Keystone other then that - swerve Copper (unless you wanna train / lap the pipe which is sick).... and Breck (especially on a weekend) unless you wanna ski the awesome park...

beaver for sure, I had a hard time slowing down on the runs, nothing like bombing a groomer for 45 minutes strait, the park is dec, and tree runs are fun

Dumbass. I ski raced in CO for 4 years and then I went to South Korea. While doing that I had competions in most mountains in Colorado.

I will be at the beav during christmas break too
I happen to love the beav, they have some really hard and steep in-bounds terrain (stone creek chutes)
and the parks are a lot of fun

And keystone, breck, copper, vail, and a basin are all under within an hour away (vail is only like 20 - 30 minutes) so you can always take a bus to one of those other mountains

Alright, well my parents called up and it turns out everything in CO is booked, and so they booked this place.
So im going to BC

Anyone have any suggestions of where to go at BC or Vail? besides what i've read? anything more specific?

I love powder, i dont really like super tight trees, i like cliffs but i havent done to many so im not looking for huge ones.

Anyone who says Beaver Creek sucks has no idea where to go.  Beaver Creek kills it.  Copper is fun, but Beaver Creek is definitely better.

If you are going to stay, you might as well go to Beaver Creek. Not that I like the mountain, but Beaver Creek has the best hotels like Ritz-Carlton, Hayatt, etc. The Beaver Creek resort itself is luxurious too. But quality comes with a price. But staying at Vail is pretty nice too. Cost is not that high and also I went there during christmas and the Steakhouse is awesome.

the beave is the best all around mt in my opinion as far as summit and egal go, good park great steeps lots of snow. copper on the other hand sucks. plus if u get sick of the beave with you pass you could go 5 min east and go to vail or 45 min and go to breck or key.
